Cigar Clowns Festivus 2022
“A Festivus for the rest of us!” The OGT 12 Days of Christmas sampler returns this year, packed with with bangers to light up the holiday season! One such cigar is our day four – ‘Four Crazy Clowns’: last year’s Festivus 2022. With a year of age on it, this cigar secures a bold flavor with a smooth, clean finish. Cigar Clowns Festivus 2022 is a great illustration of the bangers that the Clowns put out. Most of the blend is undisclosed, however, I can say it is a 6×54 box press from Nicaragua. It definitely is a Maduro, however, what type? Who can say? I speculate it is a Habano Maduro, but can’t confirm. As I say, the flavor transitions on this cigar really shine, and a year of age looks great on it. This is one of those ‘unattainable ci**rs’ and finding it in the wild like this is incredibly rare.

The OGT Advent Calendar is the only sampler to offer this rare gem. The Cigar Clowns Festuvs 2022 is just one of the amazing sticks packed into the lineup. West Tampa Boliche Gigante
West Tampa Ci**rs is the newest brand to arrive at Oak Glen To***conist. The Company was founded by former blender of CAO ci**rs, Rick Rodriguez. At the initial launch, there was two blends, the West Tampa White and the West Tampa Black. Both featuring Habano wrappers, the White is a lighter shade, with more subtle notes while the Black offers a deeper flavor and heavier strength. Earlier this year he followed up his duo with the West Tampa Red, a San Andres Maduro using various Nicaraguan filler. Now Rick finishes the 2023 year with a limited release; the West Tampa Bolichie Gigante.

What is West Tampa Boliche? According to Rodrigueaz, he says, “For me this cigar is personal. The vision for naming our company West Tampa was to create an opportunity to celebrate the rich cigar-making history of Tampa, create awareness of its vibrant and eclectic present and be a part of shaping its bright future. To make this cigar represent Tampa, I partnered up with a legendary to***co family, Oliva To***co Company.” The word Boliche is in reference to a Cuban style dish made with a eye-round beef stuffed with a ham served alongside rice.

While much of the blend itself is undisclosed, I can say that the West Tampa Boliche is a 6×60 cigar shipped in 50 count cabinets. The official press release on this cigar was sent out: “New Limited Release pays homage to the rich history of cigar making in Tampa, FL! This Cigar comes in a 50 Count Box and will only be available at select retail locations. With a large 60 ring gauge, expect a lot of complexity as you work your way through the cigar. Chef Rick has decided to keep this blend a secret but promises that you will not be disappointed! If you happen upon one of these ci**rs be sure to grab one as there are only 500 Boxes in production!”

Aganorsa Leaf Elixir OGT Exclusive
Aganorsa Leaf is one of the biggest growers of to***co in the industry. Perhaps best known for Corojo 99 and Criollo 98 to***co, they have a signature flavor best described as their tagline: ‘Our leaf is our strength.’ From farm to seed, the leaf they use is not only flavorful but wrapped in tradition and excellent craftsmanship. It has also become one of my go to to***cos when it comes to pairing with coffee. As Fabien Ziegler, Sales manager of Aganorsa Leaf, describes it, “Corojo 99 to***co hits your palate vertically. It touches on the center of your palate, causes salivation, and you taste sweetness, saltiness, with a gush of flavor.”

A cigar that expresses this very well is the exclusive we dropped for the membership this year, the Aganorsa Leaf Elixir. I worked with Terence Reilly on this project, wanting to offer a Corojo experience in the medium plus range. Something that would be strong but also deep in flavor, and of course, well balanced. The spice on the retrohale would need to be prominent but not overwhelming, while also offering a rich Aganorsa flavor. I think we hit it perfectly.

The Aganorsa Elixir is a 6×48 ‘slim’ toro. It’s wrapper is very textured, something I have come to look for in a ciger. It sports darker Corojo 99 wrapper over a Corojo 99 and Criollo 98 double binder, and fillers from Jalapa, Estelli, and Condega. In terms of tasting notes, this cigar is a whirlwind of flavor with intense transitions. At light up, there is a definite spice and sweetness at play. Rustic cedar and toasted Cheerios follow. As the cigar continues, I notice a sharp citrus, nuttiness, caramel, and lingering baking spice. The toasty element, along with mesquite and sweetness, follow through the cigar. This new release is something I have been hoping to offer for over a year, and finally, the day is here. I am in love with this blend, and I suspect many will call it a favorite; we call it Aganorsa Elixir.

For the last time, Aganorsa Leaf Elixir is available in its final batch. Don’t miss this. Once it’s gone, it isn’t replicated. This cigar has nearly two years of age on it and it is smoking brilliantly.

Espinosa Las 6 Provincias ZDT 2023 Short Churchill

The newest Espinosa Las 6 Provincias ZDT 2023 is here at OGT Ci**rs! Each year, Espinosa puts out an exceptional blend that translates the art form of cigar making. This year, he has gone all out. Released in 20 count, artful jars, from custom painting to superb blending, this year’s Limited Espinosa Las 6 Provincias is beautiful in ex*****on and experience.

The Espinosa Las 6 Provincias ZDT 2023 is the fifth edition in the Espinosa Collection. Highlighting cigar craftsmanship at its finest, ZDT stands for Zona de Tabaco, referring to Pinar de Río being one of the provinces where prized Cuban to***co is grown. This year’s release is a 6.5×48 Churchill featuring a dark Corojo wrapper over binder and fillers from Nicaragua. Rolled at the AJ Fernandez factory San Lotano in Nicaragua, this blend is superb. The relationship between Espinosa and AJ Fernandez has created incredible blends, and this is another example of their expertise. “This is really a passion project for me, my son, and the team; we have been creative with this project since the beginning,” says Erik Espinosa. “This year’s project is simply beautiful.”

Merry Christmas from Oak Glen To***conist. Mallory and I are overwhelmed with the support from all our friends and family in the OGT Cigar community. This year we are back with the 12 days of Christmas 2023 Advent Sampler pack! This is a special curated sampler from favorites, limiteds, rarities, and all around amazing ci**rs from the whole year! It literally took a year to put together. Sometimes, cigar samplers can have several great ci**rs in them with a few not so great. This is the opposite. Stolen Throne Yorktown Fleet Torpedo
Stolen Throne Ci**rs has a knack for building great tasting ci**rs around Habano and Sumatra to***co. One such blend is their new Yorktown Fleet. Much like their other ci**rs, it is released in two vitolas: Torpedo 6×50 and Robusto 5×50. This cigar debuted at the 2023 PCA trade show, and is fresh on the shelves. The Stolen Throne Call to Arms also uses a Sumatra wrapper, but the flavor could not be more different from the Yorktown Fleet. The warmth and complexity off this cigar is fantastic, and perhaps more dynamic in its transitions. With subtle notes of coffee, caramel, earth, oak, and dry sweetness are porfound and full. If you are not one for pepper, this might be a cigar for you. While there is minimal white pepper at light up, it doesn’t linger long.

The name Stolen Throne Yorktown Fleet is in reference to the company’s new headquarters in Yorktown, Virginia. Historically speaking, on October 19, 1781, Gen. Charles Cornwallis of the British forces surrendered at Yorktown to the leader of the Continental Army, George Washington. By way of paying homage, Marsh named his Sumatra blend. “Stolen Throne ci**rs is our journey through to***co,” says Marsh. “It falls right into our portfolio of medium to full. It uses a dark Ecuadorian Sumatra Maduro wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and fillers. Hell of a lot of flavor.”

While the torpedo offers a longer, balanced experience, I really enjoy the punchy aspect of the shorter Robusto. Stolen Throne continues to set the bar high with amazing hits like their Crook of the Crown, Three Kingdoms Habano, and now their newest line. Yorktown Fleet is available at Oak Glen To***conist. Keep a weather eye on this company because they are doing amazing things with to***co and I can’t wait to see what new adventures they have planned.

Stallone Ci**rs OGT IV Aniversario Toro
It’s back! Stallone Ci**rs OGT IV Aniversario Exclusive. This is one of my top picks for ci**rs in 2023. Now, I know I sound biased, it bares our name on the label after all. However, there is very good reason for why this stick is exceptional. When I was looking for a blend to commemorate four years of Oak Glen To***conist, I would never put a band on a cigar that I thought was halfway decent. Again, our name is on it. The cigar MUST be something extra special. Tony Barrios of Stallone Ci**rs has done just that.

Back in October of 2022, Tony said he had blended two very special ci**rs that he wanted me to try. One later became the Stallone Silver Blaze Connecticut Broadleaf, the other was a Mexican San Andres toro. I told him I liked it, but it might be too strong and would benefit from resting a little. Later, in the spring of 2023, he sent it again. It was BEYOND what I thought it would be, like it was a completely new blend. I loved it even more than the Silver Blaze. It was balanced, full bodied, with notes of espresso, leather, earth, light pepper corn, and sweetness. I told him ‘This is what I am looking for!” And I asked if we could use this cigar as our official Aniversario cigar of 2023. Tony Agreed.

My wife Mallory designed the band and I asked for the traditional cedar sleeve and a maroon foot ribbon. The Stallone OGT Ci**rs IV Aniversario was born. Here is the crazy part. The reason the cigar tasted like a different blend than original is because it is! Tony had accidentally sent a rare stick he had been aging for over a year, filled with various aged ligeros! The kicker is that he can’t re produce the cigar due to the to***co he used when he rolled it. The first batch we released in August was from this private inventory he had. This time around, it is released for the final time. This is all there is unfortunately. What is in the cigar? Good question.

The Stallone OGT IV Aniversario is a 6×52 Toro featuring a dark San Andres Maduro wrapper. Underneath lies a double binder from Condega and Jalapa and fillers from Esteli, Condega, and Jalapa. Tony says, “This special blend has Criollo 98, Corojo 99 , Corojo 2012, and Habano 2000 Seeds. All from Nicaragua, aged 5 years before rolling, and the cigar about 20 months of aging after rolled. I used only 100% premium aged to***co in this blend.”

In terms of tasting notes, as I said, coffee and espresso are definitely tightly knit within the journey of this cigar, along with dark cocoa, woods, earth, and a faint caramel hint. I am very honored to offer this cigar, for the last time. If you haven’t tried it, I suggest you do. It has flawless construction, amazing transitions, and a wonderful whirlwind of flavors on the palate. Tony has become one of my favorite blenders in this industry and his talent is well demonstrated in this cigar. Stallone Ci**rs for the win.

Aging a cigar can be an interesting process and sometimes a gamble. While certain ci**rs benefit from being laid down for a while, others seem to mellow to the point of being flavorless. However, it has done wonders for the Paul Stulac Connecticut Broadleaf he created back in 2022. Originally he blended this cigar exclusively for the OGT Cigar Society. Known as the OGT x Stulac Project, Paul and I worked on this cigar for some time before releasing it. Initially Paul isn’t one who blends exclusives for many people, so I was thrilled to hear he would like to work with us. Based on his work with Broadleaf in his El Nuevo Comienzo and Red Screaming sun, I hoped he could do something with Connecticut Broadleaf. As I have said before, broadleaf is not easiest to***co to get a hold of, but he assured me he had a ‘small batch’ stashed away that would be perfect for the project.
The blend turned out strong and full flavored. Constructed of a dark, Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over Criollo 98 binder, and fillers from Nicaragua, this cigar is a 6×46 (although it almost appears to be a 48 to me) parejo. One of the common responses to this cigar in December of 2022 was that it’ was ‘s intense, heavy, and perhaps too strong. One year of age has transformed this cigar. Perhaps matured it is the right word. At light up there is a twinge of black pepper corn, with earth and tones of sweetness. Something I like about broadleaf is the creaminess you get to in the second third. With a year on this cigar, I can taste it. Notes of light spice follow as it burns with nutmeg, stone fruits, toasted cashews, creaminess, and light sweetness. The aging took this cigar from a full strength to a medium plus and a smooth finish.
Just like the flavors have changed, the name has also. The OGT x Stulac Project has had a label added and is the Stulac Anjeo Broadleaf Aged 1 year. I hope you enjoy this cigar as much as I do. It has been a highlight of the year. I have been going through them each month and I think this month it has reached a real ‘high’. The Stulac Anjeo Broadleaf will be available for our Black Friday Sale on Thanksgiving 9pm pst/12am est. Don’t miss this cigar! Stallone Ci**rs Silver Blaze Connecticut Broadleaf.
Perhaps the most prestigious Broadleaf made for the OGT Cigar Society is the Stallone Ci**rs Silver Blaze. Originally rolled over a year ago, this is the first Nicaraguan Cigar that I have heard of that boasts a Medio Tiempo Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. What is Medio Tiempo? It is the two top leaves that, on rare occasion, appear at the top of the plant, even higher than Ligero primings. They are described as being small in appearance and having an ‘alligator skin’ texture to them. But they don’t always grow on the plant, so harvesting them is something that is very difficult. While Medio Tiempo has its challenges, it also has a wondrous, rich flavor to it. I already love Connecticut Broadleaf to***co, and Medio Tiempo grade definitely raises the bar. Where does the name come from? The idead was given to me by a friend of mine. He suggested we name it after the Sherlock Holmes short story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Silver Blaze . It is also a nod to Tony’s history of breaking horses. Last year Tony and I had been talking about doing something special for the members of OGT Cigar Society. “I spent a lot in the 100% premium aged to***co in this blend.” Barrios said. “The blend breakdown is:
Wrapper: US Connecticut Broadleaf Ligero
Binder: Double Binder (Esteli & Jalapa)
Filler: Esteli, Jalapa & Jalapa. Inside is Criollo 98, Corojo 99 , Corojo 2012 and Habano 2000 Seeds . All from Nicaragua aged 5 years before rolling. 5 months aging after rolled.”

This cigar offers an unparalleled experience of full flavor, full-bodied, and only medium in strength. A perfect balance and a complexity that coats the palate. As far as flavor notes go, there is a swarm of cocoa up front, roasted nuts, touches of leather, light spice, and a consistent creamy center with hints of sweetness. This cigar, I feel, is approachable by anyone, not overwhelming a new smoker but also satisfying one who leans toward stronger ci**rs. OGT Cigar Society Custom CLE CigarChristian Eiroa and CLE Ci**rs are known for the authentic Corojo leaf grown in Honduras. The Eiroa family were responsible for the original Camacho Corojo before the brand was bought out by Davidoff. After the non-compete term was up, Christian founded his own company under the name CLE, which stands for his initials: Christian Louis Erioa. Under the CLE umbrella is also Eiroa ci**rs and Asylum. It is an honor to have a custom cigar made from his Honduran factory just for the OGT Cigar Society. The project started earlier this year, and is finally completed. But the ex*****on is unlike any other thus far.

Back in June all the members of the society were sent our summer ‘fuma’ box. Inside everyone got six tasting fumas – basically six different tasting to***cos, a flavor wheel, notes, two CLE ci**rs, and a QR code to vote on their favorites. Once all the votes were in, the master sheet was sent off to Christian. Based on the top voted to***cos he built a blend around it. In essence, an exclusive CLE cigar was blended by the input of all the members. Finally, that cigar is a reality, and it is being sent to te Society next week! But what is it?

Based on the feedback, he created a 5.5×44 Corona wrapped in a Corojo leaf. The Corojo was fuma #5. While all six fumas had an interesting flavor, I see why this was the popular one. The Erioa family is known for that varietal, and it shows even in the individual fuma. The binder is fuma #6, a Habano, I believe also grown in Honduras. And finally the filler is mixed, predominantly Corojo. The result is a sweet, earthy, cedar, toasted nut whirlwind. While many of the CLE ci**rs play in that sweeter, cedar side, this cigar is not as delicate on the palate. That toasted nut, maybe like roasted almond, note comes forward. A pleasant amount of cream follows to the last third. I love the fact it is in a traditional Corona size, which helps translate the richness of the to***co. This one is a home run.

We are the Drazin Family. My wife and I, Mallory, have lived and worked in Oak Glen, California for over eleven years.

During that time, I worked as an event coordinator, and an Artistic Director for a professional theatre company. In the background, I had developed a love for to***co and ci**rs, which later evolved into- what I would call, an obsession.

I love the passion behind excellent craftsmanship and blending, but most of all, I love the conversation they promote, the community they create, and the friends they bring together. For these reasons, my wife and I have began to the project of Oak Glen To***conist; a refined cigar shop offering boutique ci**rs by the world’s most talented cigar makers. We wish not only to create a cigar experience, educational and accessible to smokers, but bring a community together. We will be working with a coffee house, and together host dance nights, poetry readings, chess and poker events, tastings, and much more!

We carry great brands like My Father, Rocky Patel, Foundation, Southern Draw, AJ Fernandez, Arturo Fuente, Drew Estate, and many others.
