For those of you who loved the Raven’s Nest Spiced Cider mix that mom used to sell at the store, I found it this past weekend at Mast General Store in Boone. I would assume they sell it at all their locations in the home store section of their stores. This is a must have for the cooler weather at our house!

A Letter from Jim & Dianne Weathers:

After 106 years in business, the Farmers Hardware Store has officially closed its doors. The building has been sold and we are excited to see how the new owners renovate it to continue the legacy of small town friendly businesses in Forest City. Jim’s grandfather, James Flay Weathers, Sr. began the business back in 1916. Jim’s father, James Flay Weathers, Jr. continued the legacy by running the business in to the 1980’s. James Flay Weathers, III and his wife Dianne took over running the day-to-day of the store in the early 1970’s and kept the business operating until currently. The business has changed over the years but the constant has been the family tradition to be a staple in the downtown area of Forest City. We enjoyed raising our children in the store and truly loved seeing our customers over the years. We deeply appreciate all those who frequented our business and the friendships made over the years with treasured employees, customers, and fellow business owners. These are the memories we cherish and will last us a lifetime. We are entering in to a new chapter of semi-retirement now and wanted to make you aware of the closing of our beloved Farmers Hardware.
