Wake Restrictions Lifted.
This was posted on July 12 by the Rice County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE: 10 AM, SUNDAY, JULY 21
No wake restrictions have been lifted on ALL Rice County lakes, including Sakatah Lake.

No Wake restrictions have been LIFTED on Cannon, Cody/Phelps, Fox, Shields and Union lakes.

On Saturday, July 13, no wake restrictions will be LIFTED on Circle, Mazaska and Roberds lakes. Following this change, the only Rice County lake that will still have no wake restrictions will be Sakatah Lake.

Safety reminders: Be sure everyone is wearing a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket and NEVER boat under the influence. A boating while under the influence is involved in 1/3 of all recreational boating fatalities.

The sudden passing of Silvia Whitcomb -

If you come into our little store and feel something missing, you will be right. There is a void that can be felt by almost all. That void was created by the sudden passing of our Store Manager, our employee advocate and our friend Silvia Whitcomb.

For her Co-workers, she was always there to help when needed. If they couldn’t make it in to work, she helped them find coverage or worked their shift for them. If they had a problem, they could talk to Silvia to get it resolved. She was there for them.

Silvia was loved by so many whose lives she touched. For our Customers and Vendors, she always took the time to listen to their concerns or suggestions. She would listen to the stories about themselves or their families.

Silvia never complained about having too much to do. Instead, she would master one responsibility and ask for something new to tackle.

On a personal note, Silvia was with us for 8 1/2 years and to say she was my right arm, would not be giving Silvia the credit she deserves. Silvia ALWAYS had my back. Whenever we were having difficulties or troubles, she would tell me “Don’t worry, we will get through this”, and she was always right. She was there to make sure everything got done. She would come in early or stay late, whatever it took to make sure things ran smoothly. I knew I could use her as a sounding board and that she would give me honest feedback and perspectives that had not occurred to me.

Silvia had a big smile and an even bigger heart.

Silvia, you are loved and will be missed by us all.

ICE ON - Update

Yesterday Cedar was trying her hardest to make ice. You could see it skim over and then disappear, skim over and then disappear again.

Last night she did it, 💯% locked up. Now, lets hope she hangs on.

Toys for Tots 2023-

Lake Country Convenience & Bait is hosting a Toys for Tots drop box. Please make a donation and help a young child have a great Christmas. So that these toys can be distributed in time Christmas, the last day to drop off a toy will be Tuesday, December 12th.

Lake Country Convenience & Bait is pleased to bring you another locally created product. Please stop by and pick up one of our custom lure covers. I love these and have one on all my summer and winter poles. They help protect the lures paint and finish, protect body parts from sharp hooks, keep your lines from tangling, and are super easy to put on and take off.
Psssst…..if you don’t want your buddy or the guy on the other side of the dock knowing what your super fish catching lure is, slap on a lure cover and keep it “Top Secret”.
