Crawfish boil by krewe kitchen next Saturday 5/25 starting at 12pm until it sells out! If you’ve had Steve’s crawfish before you know how great they are, if you haven’t had them yet, here’s your chance! We will also be hosting several tastings that day as well as some discounts on our gift items. Dulce Vida Tequilla will be here along with a rep for Wheatley vodka. Always a privilege having a McConnell Hospitality Group pick for sale! Go visit one of their places ( 55 south, Red Pony, & Cork & Cow) and I’m sure they’ll be serving up a few specialty cocktails with this pick. We have several cases and as always we have a bottle open to sample before purchase. Their last tequilla pick didn’t last long so be sure to stop by and grab one.

Headed north today to Heaven Hill Distillery for a Elijah Craig pick, we tasted through 6 different barrels and unanimously picked the very first one of the six. 9.5 years old from rickhouse J floor 5 and 130.8 proof that drank incredibly easy for its proof! Special thanks to Sylvia from Heaven Hill, Jay Cooper, Barry Mankin, Ryan Frazier, and Brandon Nicholas for making the trek and picking this fantastic barrel.

Let’s have some fun and go another round! We have reset the samples ( changed the numbers on the bottles) that were left over and they are limited to 25-30 pours. We will make it a little easier this time and ask that you taste and name the six pours in order. Whoever gets the most right will have the choice to purchase a weller 12, Stagg, or a Weller CYPB at or near retail price, your choice. Tasting will start this Friday when we open and will end Saturday at closing ( 9pm ) or if we run out of samples to pour. We all know which 6 bottles were used so this should be easy. contest ends with the first person getting all 6 correct. Answer sheet will have 6 lines to fill in and you will be asked to list your favorite and your least favorite as well. No sign ups needed, just show up and give it a shot! Who’s in?

It was a fun and interesting week of tastings. First, I’d like to thank those that signed up and showed up to participate in this blind taste test, it’s definitely not easy. The goal of this tasting was first to have fun and give someone a chance at a great bottle. Second, was to hopefully prove that there are good everyday bottles out there that get overshadowed by the chase of allocated bottles.
So here are the results,
Out of a possible 42 points Cullen Creasy scored 26 and is the winner! Chris Berry had 25 but left a few questions unanswered! ( just a guess could have put him out front on those few blank answers), and Nikki Michelle with 23 correct.

The bottles were 1-Henry McKenna BnB
2- k**b creek 9 year, 3-Willet pot still, 4 Elijah Craig small batch 5- Old Forester 100 proof, 6- Blade and Bow.

The least favorite bottle was #1 Henry McKenna BnB

The top three favorites were
1- Elijah Craig small batch
2- Blade and bow
3- was a dead tie with Willett pot still and Old Forester 100 proof.

Again, thanks to those that participated and congrats to Cullen for the win and some bragging rights.

Coming later this month at fairview liquors, you’ll have a opportunity to get this bottle at retail. We will be hosting a true blind tasting of 6 bottles. There will be questions for each offering and whoever gets the most right will be offered this bottle for purchase. This will be limited to 45 people and we will offer the tasting for 1 week so it will fit everyone’s schedule. Results will be revealed after the last day. A sign up post will be out soon and the first 45 to respond are in. Strictly for fun, a great bottle, and some bragging rights! The sign up post will only be made on our Fairview liquors private page in order to accurately track the entrants via a timeline

Awesome Christmas present from my son, daughter, daughter in law, and future son in law. They managed to track down 40 plus samples from barrel picks we have done over the past several years and they made a display shelf from one of the barrels we picked. This is a great collection to have! Thank you for such a thoughtful gift and all the effort that went into this!

Special thanks go out to the following people for helping them secure some of the samples they needed. Some of these guys even opened sealed bottles to make this gift happen!
