Flying Cloud Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 - $25.99
Stephen Ross, a veteran winemaker, and Paula Dooley started Flying Cloud Winery in 2003 after recognizing an opportunity to create approachable and food-friendly wines. This Cabernet Sauvignon was made using classic Bordeaux methods of production; the grapes were de-stemmed and crushed into small stainless-steel tanks, four weeks of skin contact, and aged in neutral French oak barrels for seventeen months. The wine is deeply colored with dark ruby-purple hues. Pretty aromas of blackberry, mulberry, bittersweet chocolate, clove and coyote mint. This is a rich, robust full bodied wine, expansive on the palate with polished tannins. Powerful, structured, elegant balance, a lovely Cabernet Sauvignon.

Chateau Saint Roch Kerbuccio 2020 - $19.99
Chñteau Saint Roch is located between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, inland in the Agly valley. The terroir of the valley is stony, black schist soil, with loam, and it is a very environmentally friendly vineyard. This bottle is named after the Queribus Cathar castle ‘KERBUCCIO’, set on a steep cliff that overlooks the valley and the mosaic of the vineyard. This exquisite red holds scents of cracked pepper and menthol, crushed stone, black cherries, black olives and black licorice. It is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and intense but silky in feel, with a long, elegant finish. It’s a terrific value in a robust, ready-to-drink red.

Olivier Morin Bourgogne Constance Chitry Blanc 2022- $20.99
Chitry is a village nestled into a small valley along the border of Chablis in France. Olivier Morin’s grandfather was the first to bottle his own wine in the village and his grandson has graciously continued with tradition. Morin prides himself on farming sustainably at his vineyard—Chitry le Fort; using natural ground cover, organic compost and no pesticides.  Since 2020, all vineyards have been farmed organically and will be officially certified in 2022. This 100% Chardonnay is vinified in stainless steel tanks where it undergoes Malolactic fermentation and spends time on the lees. Delivering a lean and clean wine where crisp minerality meets bright green apple. The ideal pairing for light appetizers or a seafood or poultry-based meal.
‹Seailles Cubik Rouge 2022 - $13.99
The vineyards around Domaine Seailles are known for producing incredible Armagnac, leaving little space left to grow Merlot for this tasty and affordable table wine. After a long holiday season, it can feel quite relaxing to sit back with a wine that isn’t overly complicated. This organically grown 100% Merlot is luscious, textured and juicy. Rich blackberry, plum and cherry mingle together with baking spices, leather and a touch of white pepper. Perfect on its own or paired alongside smoked and sauced meats such as BBQ wings or ribs, or with something more refined such as mushroom bourguignon.

On the nose it is intense and flowery, revealing its freshness with citrus sensations together with more complex hints of ripe pear and melon. On the palate, it is elegant and delicately aromatic with a good structure. A wonderful refreshing sip, perfectly balanced between acidity and fleshy fruity sensations. Victorine de Chastenay Crémant de Bourgogne Rosé N.V- $19.99
This 100% Pinot Noir French sparkling rosé is crisp, vibrant, and lively in the glass. Beautifully pure red berry and floral notes give the wine a sense of energy and a smooth mouthfeel. Ha!

Today the Whiskey elves got some payback! Three seasoned hunters showed up to find today’s very special opportunity and they worked it hard. Combined, they went through every inch of the store to no avail. One guy even searched behind the checkout counter in hopes of taking home the prize. At some point, we were asked for a step ladder, but it didn’t help.

It was an entire hour of searching before the first guy tapped and not far behind him, the second hunter had to hang his head and admit defeat, hoping against hope that it might still be hidden at his lunch break so he might continue his quest. (we could feel the elves having a chuckle)

When his competing hunters had to leave, our third hunter regrouped and went back to work, methodically revisiting places that made sense by the visual clues. It took another 10 minutes or so but we could feel him dialing in. He searched high and low getting closer and closer until finally, there it was!

If you couldn’t tell by the smile on his face in our stories, he was a happy hunter and took his prize to the counter and then home with him.

Great fun and the Whiskey Elves aren’t finished yet. On night number 11, they have yet another awesome bottle. Tonight’s? How about Weller CYPB?

There must be an insider


You guys are making this look much too easy. Today the Willett 11yr Purple Top was found in just a couple of minutes by Stephen Minar (color us impressed)đŸ„ƒ

The elves however are not satisfied, they put work into this project all year and 2024 has not been their best as far as time per bottle (how long it sits before it is found and claimed). In years past there have been bottles that sat for more than a day, sometimes even a couple of days!

So here is the question

Today’s Whiskey Elves bottle got sniffed out very quickly. How quickly
 I’m not sure all of the doors had even been unlocked!

Brendan came in and walked over to its hiding spot like he was the guy that put it there. It couldn’t have been him though, he is too tall to be an elf.

This year the prowess of Hunter has really been next level and we’ve been really excited to get these great bottles into your hands. If our math is right, this is night number 9 of 12 which means that time is running out for those of you that haven’t scored a bottle yet.

But fear not, the level of bottles remains high as we head down the stretch. Tonight the elves have left us a beautiful Willett purple top! This is an 11yr bourbon from barrel #3822 and comes in at 124 proof. The cost is $400 so it won’t make everyone’s shopping list but I am certain that there are a lot of collectors that would love to add it to their collection.

Who’s going to show up in the morning and show the Whiskey elves how to play this game? The visual clues tonight are sparse. Do you see something that might unlock its hiding spot? See you at 8:00 am đŸ„ƒ

The whiskey elves hide their bottle in a really tough place and some smart aleck shows up and makes it look easy.

Today’s hunter extraordinaire Sal Faiella. Congratulations Sal, you made it look easy.

I really thought they had a good one today, my guess was at least an hour, and I thought the elves would send at least a few people throwing their hands up. I was really wrong
 it lasted about 5 minutes😳

Tonight they went back to work and there is another great bottle up for grabs. This Fourtuna “8 summers” is being hunted hard and there weren’t a whole lot of bottles that made it to Ct. (Good to know elves).

We had a pretty good group of hunters show up this morning, about a dozen in all and they were looking to make fast work of finding the bottle hidden by the Whiskey elves.

It sure wasn’t a record time but as a group, they were very determined and someone was going home with that Old Fitz.

It took some time and there were moments where everyone looked pretty lost. This spot was a tough one


Finally after about 30 minutes, the moment came. It was located and the only question would be how to get it out of its hiding spot. But, a bit of a lift and a slide freed it up and just like that, it had a new homeđŸ„ƒ

Tonight the elves have another very sneaky spot
 I really think they are looking for a way to skunk you guys. Now, I’m not making a prediction here, but let’s just say, it wouldn’t surprise me if this bottle of Blantons Straight From The Barrel stayed right where it is for awhile tomorrow
 maybe a long while

The Whiskey Elves are officially frustrated! After all the time and effort they’ve put into planning their annual hunt and finding clever hiding spots, their bottles are still being found in record time.

This morning, Tony stole the show by cracking the code and finding the bottle in minutes. Congratulations, sir—well done! đŸ„ƒ

But the Elves aren’t giving up yet. Tonight, they’ve hidden a bottle of Old Fitzgerald 10yr from the 2024 Spring release. At $140, it’s sure to have plenty of hunters ready to join the action.
