Kathryn Weaver
1937 - 2023
Kathy Louise (Wall) Weaver, 86, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 29, 1937, in Gillsburg, Mississippi, to the late Warren C. Wall and Geneva Wall Hobgood.
Kathy was a devoted Christian and a member of the Ethel Baptist Church. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she found solace and strength in her relationship with the Lord.
Kathy had a giving heart and was always concerned for the well-being of others. She spent countless hours caring for those around her and was a pillar of support for her family and friends. She loved & lived for her family and did her best to keep them close with Sunday dinners and family events, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by all. Her greatest achievement in life was her family!
Kathy retired from the State of Louisiana Group Benefits Department after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Additionally, she was the proud owner of Pop's Lil' Stop Restaurant, established in 1991.
Outside of work, Kathy found joy in working in her yard, tending to her flower beds, and meticulously cutting the grass. She also took great pleasure in following the activities and sports of her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathy is survived by her loving children, Vicki Weaver Sims and husband Bryan L Sims Sr, and Charles Edward Weaver III (Trae) and wife Robin M Weaver. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Keli Sims Cress and husband Walker Cress, Kaycie Denise Sims, Bryan Lane Sims Jr (Butch), Wade Benjamin Sims and wife Nicole Sims, Haley Weaver Crawford and husband Mitch Crawford, Kaitlyn Weaver Peterson and husband James Peterson, and Alainna Weaver. Kathy was also blessed with thirteen and a half great-grandchildren, Gavin Tyler Oliphant, Garrett Weaver Oliphant, Grayson Lane Oliphant, Weston Alex Sims, Lonni Layne Sims, Hudson Cole Sims, Peyton Claire Sims, Wyatt Walker Cress, Morgon Paul Cress, Ridley Kate Crawford, Briggs Matthew Crawford, Mary-Mitchell Adaire Crawford, Micah Kathryn Peterson, and baby Peterson. She is also survived by her three brothers, Charles Wall, Mike Wall and wife Barbara Wall, Terry Wall and wife Theresa Wall, two sisters, Brenda Croy and Rhonda Kirkland and husband Bill Kirland, two brothers-in-law, Ed Hughes and Mike Lofton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Edward Weaver Jr, her daughter Jacqueline Weaver, her mother, Geneva Wall Hobgood, her father, Warren C. Wall, her sister Barbara Wall Hughes, her sister Rebecca (Becky) Wall, her sister Betty Wall Lofton, and her brother Clayton Wall.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 9am to 12pm at Ethel Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 12 PM, conducted by Brother Clint Stewart and assisted by Brother Ed Jelks. Kathy will be laid to rest at Jackson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Edward Weaver III (Trae), Charles Wall, Mike Wall, Terry Wall, Bryan Sims, Butch Sims, Wade Sims, and Weston Sims. Gavin Oliphant, Walker Cress, Mitch Crawford, and James Peterson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Ethel Baptist Church, where Kathy found comfort and community.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Charlet Funeral Home, and hosted at Ethel Baptist Church in Ethel, Louisiana.
Kathy's legacy of love, compassion, and faith will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. We were so blessed to have her in our lives, and she will be dearly missed. We are so thankful for the Christian example that she set for us to follow and the wonderful memories to cherish.
