From what I can find, there have been 4 presidents actual assonated, 6 presidents had assignation attempts made, and now 1 candidate.

Of these, 2 were prior to the creation of the Republican Party (1 conservative and 1 progressive), 3 were democrats, and 6 were republicans.

This is something that should not happen to anyone!!! If you do not like a candidate, the ballot box is the place to take action.

Today, I purchased Hoover Accounting in Cordell.

We are trying to get things organized to start serving clients in that area beginning Tuesday. I am looking forward to meeting folks there and assisting where I can.

I want to thank all our customers at Clean Scene Laundry in Sayre for their patience while we had our gas line fixed. As of this afternoon, we are officially back up and running at full capacity.

To show our appreciation, this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, May 11th and 12th, we will pay for your first wash and dry load.

Saturday, we are open from 8:00a to 8:00p.

Sunday, we will be open Noon to at least 4:00p. Perhaps later, if you are still catching up on getting everything clean.

April 15th almost finished. I have stopped for the night.

I hope everyone got their extension or tax returns filed.

Some won’t. Every year I have several calls on the 16th with folks saving they didn’t get their return filed and they now need an extension. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do at that point. They needed it YESTERDAY.

If they owe additional taxes, their tax bill just went up 5.5% for being that day late and $ short. I can only sympathize. I can’t get them out of it.

TAX DAY!

Today is the day that either a tax returns or extension to file must be filed.

If you are mailing an extension, it must be postmarked today so you need to get it to the post office for them to postmark.

It is possible to electronically file an extension using some tax softwares or through your CPA.

If you call and ask on Tuesday, it is too late to file an extension.

An extension to FILE is not an extension to PAY. If you think you may owe additional taxes, you should attempt to pay an estimate of the taxes due.

Even if you cannot pay, file the return or extension. There are separate penalties for failing to file and failing to pay.

Just a reminder, April 15th is next Monday. Either your tax return or an extension to file is due in next Monday.

The extension is ONLY an extension to file. It is not an extension to pay. However, if you cannot pay, still get the return or extension filed.

There are 2 separate penalties. The Failure to File penalty is 5% PER MONTH up to a max of 25%. The Failure to Pay penalty is 0.5% per month up to a max of 22.5%. At least save the 25%. Get the returns or extension filed.

With the inflation that has been rampant, I know food costs have been high. It may be time to start growing some of our own food again.

Many of you know that giving me too much time to think generates some strange but occasionally interesting ideas. Here is this morning’s thought …

Any of my Sayre peeps interested in putting in a garden but don’t have space?

I have around 17 vacant lots mostly on the west side of town that are not currently being used.

I know it may be a little late to get started, but I am willing to let our folks use the lots FREE OF CHARGE for their own garden or even a shared garden. If several of you would like to group together to put one in.

Some have city water there but not turned on. Others will need a hydrant installed to get water.

I might be able to arrange to get a tractor and tiller to get the dirt work started. Plants, fertilizers, and care would be your responsibility.

If you are interested, message me and I will send availability locations.

Just a tiny way of trying to provide some community support in tough times!

It have been one of those days too! One frustrating thing after another.

Many of you know there has been an ongoing family dispute. I have purposefully avoided saying anything about it on social media. Well, It was supposed to settle April 2022, then last July 2023, and then final papers were supposed to be signed yesterday. There was a deadline for yesterday control by the SBA and the signatures were trying to meet that timeline. Rather than getting signed papers today, I got a response trying to change terms again AFTER the deadline.

The hot new product for the liquor store is Blackberry Crown Royal. We have been trying to get it in for several months. The supplier won’t list it on the order site but we were supposed to get some delivered today through special allocations. Their Driver made our delivery but none included. However, my competitors both got an allocation. Customer service at the supplier was “Well, too bad for you!” I asked for a supervisor phone number and was given a disconnected number.

We have had plumbing issues for 4 or 5 days now at the laundry. There was a huge amount of stuff from people’s pockets, primarily change, that fell in a trap area and started adding things to clog the drain pipes. I would guess $50 or more of loose change plus some misc other things. It took a while to find where the clog occurred and longer still to figure out how to remove it. That was still happening today with the things above. However, this should be resolved in the morning so we should be reopening in the morning sometime. Just to say thanks for our customers patience, letting everyone wash and dry free tomorrow and Friday. Anyone behind on laundry, let them know.

Ligh light bulb at the sign at the liquor store burned out so our light isn’t turning on to show we are open in the evening. It is difficult to replace that bulb. It’s not reachable with just a ladder and I have to remove the outside sign face to get to it.

For the last 5 days, I thought I had pink eye. Dr called in drops but they didn’t seem to work. I was running out so I scheduled an appointment this afternoon to check and see if it was another type. IT IS NOT PINK EYE. I burst a blood vessel in my right eye. Just have to let it heal.

I started feeling a little achy last night and continued this morning. While at the Dr we talked about this too. Not Strep. Not sinus infection. Not flu. Rather, POSITIVE FOR COVID! Have to quarantine for the next 5 days.

There is a med that helps if taken early. Dr called it in for me. Went to pick it up. Not covered by ACA and I am not old enough for Medicare yet. Cost is just under $1400. Gonna see how I feel tomorrow before deciding to pick it up.

I am ready to go to sleep tonight and hope these were all just bad dreams today.

I am very fortunate though. The staff at the liquor store are trying to work around not getting the blackberry crown and the light problem.

Troy Engleman is working diligently to get the plumbing going at the laundry and the ladies are cleaning up after him mess by mess.

The staff at the CPA office has all the business returns filed or on extension and keeping us working effectively.

Hi All,

As several of you know, we have had some septic issues at the Clean Scene Laundry in Sayre for the last several days.

There was a place where change and anything from users pockets got stuck. It took a while to get to it and to get something that would pull things out. We should have everything put back together tomorrow morning.

To thank our customers for all their patience while we dealt with these problems, we are offering

FREE WASHING
FREE DRYING

Thursday and Friday, March 14th and 15th, all day. Last load in at about 7:15p so the staff can get home at a reasonable hour.

First come first serve. However, if there is a line, limit is 2 machines at a time per customer. We want everyone to have an opportunity to catch up on the laundry they are behind.

Thank you for your patience and being our loyal customers. We appreciate each of you.

Just a deadline reminder.

If your business needs to file 1099s, the deadline is next Thursday, January 31st.

If your business pays $600 or more total for the year to anyone providing SERVICES to your business, you probably need to send a 1099. Buying things are not reported.

The exception is if the provider is a Corporation unless the Corporation is an attorney or a medical provider (a vet is a medical provider). LLCs, Partnerships, Sole Proprietors are NOT corporations so generally get a 1099.

Some things that can trigger having to send a 1099:

- Rent paid for your business property or equipment rentals.
- Repairs by a mechanic, plumber, contractor, welder, etc.
- Vet doctoring your cows, horses, sheep, goats, even dogs or cats if you are a breeder.
- Professionals like Attorneys or Accountants.
- Realtors managing your rental properties.
- Custom hire like fence builders, cutting / bailing hay, plowing, etc
- General contractor labor

What you need to provide:
- Name of the provider
- Mailing address
- Federal ID or Social Security No
- Amount paid during the year
All that will be on Form W9 if you can get it from them. Btw, the IRS expects you to get this information BEFORE you pay for the service. If they will not provide it, you are supposed to withhold 24% of their payment and send it to the IRS instead.

If you don’t get the information and file the 1099s you can be charged penalties of $310 each for not filing and for not sending to the entity paid. That is $620 for each 1099 not filed or sent. That adds up fast.
