Today is Thursday. You know what that means...... Tasting day is upon us here at Primo's! Starting at 5 we will be sampling these two quads, St. Bernardus Abt 12 and Ommegang Three Philosophers. You do not want to miss out on this. Cheers!

It's getting chilly out there so come warm up at Primo's. Grab a six or 4 pack of something great! Ten Fidy is something cool to warm you up no doubt!
This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hides a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt. Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY is the ultimate celebration of dark malts and boundary-stretching beer.

Happy Friday Primos! We got several new brews in today including these two:

Anderson Valley Bourbon Barrel Stout is aged in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels for 3 months to give it a depth and complexity most beers only dream about!

Alaskan Smoked Porter is a dark and robust porter with a pronounced smoky flavor good for the colder months.

Both brews are brewed in limited batches so pick up a bottle and Drink Better this weekend. Cheers!

A small guide on what mouthfeel on a beer is like for my fellow beer snobs out there.

QUESTION: "How do you determine the (mouthfeel) on beer? Does it mean texture as in crisp or thin? Im confused.
-Alex Lerma

Well Alex. YOU my my friend are right on point. It not only means determining if the beer is thick, thin, mil;y, grainy etc. But also the feel it causes on your mouth. Is it dry, crisp, oily. What sensation does it give after you try a mint or spicy beer. THese are all "trigeminal" sensations that allow you to enjoy your beer. Especially when pairing with food. SOmetimes the trigeminal sensations from the beer compliment or tone down trigeminal sensations from food. Especially cheese.

Just try to stay away from words like "malty" and "bold". These sometimes dont really tell you anything. Malty as in what? If you say caramal, brown sugarish, and vanilla.....well, there you go. You described what "malty" you were talking about. The word "Bold", well I have no idead what that means. It could be thick, hi IBU, high ABV....so. Taste some beers and jot down your aroma, apppearance, mouthfeel, and taste/aftertaste, and overall impressions. Here is a Beer Flavor WHeel to check out. Look at the terms it has on the wheel. What does the next beer tell YOU about it?

CHEERS ALEX!

10/20/2013

Thirsty? Stop by and grab a six of something good! Maybe this Brown Ale from St. Arnold!? Pours a beautiful, deep copper brown, full malty body with subtle notes of chocolate and a hint of sweetness. Perfect for this relaxed weather we are having!
