The wine loving folks at Arista have put their wine-thinking caps on and have come up with some of their favorite wines for Spring today. We don’t think it’s a coincidence that these wines would go pretty well with your easter Dinner as well.

2023, Chateau Ducasse, Bordeaux Blanc: I think the secret to Château Ducasse’s perennially popular, tantalizing white is the healthy amount of Sémillon. It makes up about 70% of the final blend and is wonderfully complemented by the Sauvignon Blanc, its traditional dance partner in Bordeaux blanc. There is also a little bit of Muscadet in their as well. A nose of citrus, honey and nuts. The palate is wonderfully rich and viscous, with hints of green apple, pear, white flowers and orange water. Staff pick. $22.99/$20.69

2022, 216 Miles To Go by Mark Ryan Winery, Willamette Valley, Pinot Noir: Fruit is sourced from numerous vineyards in the Willamette Valley, as shows a typical nose of dark cherry, raspberry and tart rhubarb. These flavors repeat on the palate that also includes notes of spice, Dr. Pepper cola, red current and boysenberry. Ida’s pick. $34.99/$31.49

2021, Domaine Notre Dame des Pallieres, “Les Mourres”: Purple robe with deep and shining reflections. Its nose exudes an aromatic bouquet of great complexity, on notes of ripe fruits such as blackberry and cherry, wrapped by an elegant folded touch. The palate is perfectly balanced, both concentrated and delicate, on the jammy fruit and spices. The finish is long, extending on straight tannins. 80% Grenache and 10% each Syrah and Mourvedre. Roger’s pick. $33.99/$30.59

2022, Thurston Wolfe, Horse Heaven Hills, Dr. Wolfe’s Family Red: 51% Zinfandel, 38% Petite Sirah and 11% Lemberger. Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim, and medium plus intensity. Fruity nose of sweet raspberries, cherries, to***co, light wood, herbs, spices, black pepper and chocolates. Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs. Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, light vanilla, to***co, chocolates, licorice and peppercorn. $17.99/$16.19

In a quest to always try new things in the shop, so today we thought we would pour wines made from lesser known grapes that are grown in the Piedmont region of Italy. Oh, and we thought we’d throw in Vermouth Rosso, just because!

2023, Antoniolo, Erbaluce di Caluso: As far as legends are concerned, the Erbaluce di Caluso is a particularly privileged grape variety: According to legend, the fairy of light and dawn – Italian alba luce – once gifted the inhabitants of Caluso with a grape variety that got its name in a slightly modified form. Erbaluce di Caluso was the first white wine with the DOC seal in the entire Piedmont region in 1967 and since 2010 it has even been classified as a DOCG wine. Light yellow in color with greenish reflections. Apple and peach blossoms on the nose, along with green and yellow apple, white and yellow peach, apricot and ripe lemon. Juicy and dry, that's the first impression in the mouth, rather tart fruit hints, apple, citrus fruit, in a nuanced and distinctive way. Green pear, crisp plum, also some lychee on the finish. $23.99/$21.59

2022, Viberti, Colli Tortonesi, Timorasso, Derthona: Clear, intense yellow color with green hues. On the nose fruit scents of pear and peach and floral nuances of acacia and hawthorn. On the palate the wine is dry and warm, with notes of white flowers, peach and melon that is soft and very well balanced, without any edges. It has a long lingering finish with good fresh acidity. $35.99/$32.39

2022, Boschis Francesco, Dogliani, Grignolino: Grignolino is a typical Piedmontese vine and very widespread in the area near Asti. It owes its name to "Grignole", meaning seed or grape seed. A light ruby in color, the nose shows hints of spice, black fruits and cherry. On the palate there are notes of dried red currant, boysenberry, blackberry and blueberry and those same spice notes come along on the finish. $23.99/$21.59

Antica Distilleria Qu***ia, Vermouth di Torino, Berto: If you have never experienced an aperitivo/digestivo of rosso Vermouth, you are in for a treat. Made with Arneis, Cortsese, Trebbiano and Barbera grapes along with macerated spices of wormwood, sour orange, gentian, cardamom, vanilla, coriander, mint, mace, thyme, marjoram, lemon, cinnamon, clove, rhubarb and angelica. All of these produce a Vermouth that is balanced with a touch of sweetness, bitterness and herbal qualities. Delish! $24.99/$22.49

Today's Tasting Notes:

The Novelty Hill and Januik partnership began in 2000, shortly after Mike began consulting on the planting of the Alberg family’s Stillwater Creek Vineyard on the Royal Slope of the Frenchman Hills in Washington State’s Columbia Valley. Though an uncharted growing region at the time, Mike liked what the site offered and was intrigued by the Albergs’ interest in planting a diverse selection of clones. He encouraged the family to consider making wine from the site; they agreed, provided Mike serve as winemaker. Novelty Hill was born.

2023. Stillwater Creek, Viognier: Mandarin orange slices mixed in with a rhubarb tart begins to describe this Viognier's rich and fruity set of aromas. A puff of tropical fruit floats in the background. Restrained acidity supports cantaloupe and strawberry fruit flavors on a long finish. $27.99/$25.19

2021, Stillwater Creek, Malbec: Blackcap raspberry and raisin aromas are accented by baking spices and saline combination. While the wine's acidity is bracing, the 15% Cabernet Sauvignon in here must be responsible for this brawny tannic backbone. The flavor of a chocolate-covered blackberry brings it all home. $32.99/$29.69

2021, Stillwater Creek, Merlot: A sweet blueberry syrup aroma is joined by notes of fresh-turned earth and fresh-chopped oak. A concentrated blackberry flavor dominates the palate, with a touch of strong-brewed black tea keeping it company. The wine's tannins are rough and firm, with a surprising bit of acidity. $31.99/$28.79

2022, Columbia Valley, Syrah: Dark and intensely hued, this Columbia Valley Syrah opens with vibrant aromas of blackberry, plum, and exotic spice. Rich layers of black currant and blueberry unfold on a smooth, supple palate balanced by refined tannins. The savory finish lingers with hints of dark fruit and spice. $26.99/$24.29
