Two RBB Picks?? That's right! in this video, Rich and I dive into two brand new Rhody Barrel Brotherhood Barrel Picks: the Wilderness Trail Rye and the OBSK Four Roses. Spoiler alert: both picks are delicious. The Wilderness trail is a bourbon-esque rye that we loved when we picked it and love it now! So much deliciousness going on. If you don't think you like rye, pick up a bottle and be wowed. The Four Roses is an intense aromatic monster with loads of goodness. It is a stunner. Rich gives all that haven't had the privilege of picking at Four Roses and peak into what makes the experience so memorable.

This week’s tasting is all about the KINGS of California: Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay! California has become one of the most import wine producers ‘regions’ in the entire world. World class wines from world class producers. While Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and other varietals all achieve amazing things in California, Chardonnay and Cabernet still the most important and the most planted varietals in the state!

Our line-up features 2 Chards and 4 Cabs all from either Napa Valley or Sonoma. From the brand new Post & Beam Chardonnay from Far Niente to the Classic Duckhorn Cabernet, the line is as exciting as it is comforting.

This week’s tasting is California Rhone Rangers!

One of the best selling categories in the entire store is the Rhone Valley. People love drinking these wines. Frankly, the staff loves to drink them too so we will always recommend them! Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, etc are all quintessential Rhone varietals.

While we completely understand the draw to explore the Rhone for these varietals, California has a deep history with these varietals and have produce some of the world's best examples. This week's Thursday Night Tasting is focused on introducing a number of these fantastic wines. As much as we are excited for this tasting, we think all of our customers should share that same excitement and make this a must attend event!

So big press never hurts either, right? From the 94 point San Simeon and Tablas Creek to the 97 point heavyweight Oublie, a number of these wines are carry very high scores.

Thursday Night… It’s a Pizza Party!! Remember when we were all kids and we got so excited for a good old fashion pizza party? Lots of friends! Lots of Pizza! Lots of Soda! It was awesome... So we are throwing a Pizza Pairing Party featuring East Providence's own Jeff's Pizza! We are excited to be pouring a number of very cool wines while we eat Jeff's fabulous pizza!

Every so often a wine hits so perfectly that the passion I have for wine lights up like the heavens. The 2021 Syrah is one of those wines. It is outstanding and speaks to me with pure Syrah character. Bravo. Hat’s off. I am thrilled this is going to feature in my weekly email tomorrow. Buy it. You’ll be thrilled you did.

My notes: "The nose is pure, magically Syrah. The aromatics lead with a mix of bright and dark cherries and late summer berries that veer to blackberries and boysenberries. The fruit is perfectly supplemented with red flowers, crushed stone, black pepper, roasted meat, and subtle lead pencil. The nose is deep and brooding with an intensity and charm that duel for attention. Wow. On the palate, this is concentrated and full bodied with tons of savory undertones, polished tannins, and a pop of acidity. The length carries on for a long time with a focus on the black fruit, black pepper, and subtle minerals. I have no doubt it will get better with time. If you can wait because this is striking."

Want to try one of my favorite Cabernets on the planet?

This week’s Thursday Night Tasting is focused on Spain’s Familia Torres! Wait, Spanish Cabernet? As shocking as it sounds, we will be tasting the 2017 Mas La Plana Cabernet Sauvignon from the Penedes. This bottling burst onto the scene in 1979 at the Gault-Millau Wine Olympics. In a blind tasting competition, Mas La Plana finished first beating out the wines such as Chateau Latour. I think it is a profound example of the varietal. The 2017 earned a well deserved 97 point review from Decantet!

But this tasting is about more than the Mas La Plana! We will also pouring 3 other fantastic wines from the Torres line-up. They produce wines from 8 of the most recognizable and important appellations in Spain. Our line-up will include wines from Rueda, Ribera del Duero, and Rioja.

The Rhody Barrel Brotherhood is releasing another MFer Bourbon from Copper & Cask! Rich and I break down the MF barrels that the RBB picked. These two sister bourbons are certainly family but have their own distinct personalities. So what is a MF barrel? Copper & Cask uses this designation for their MGP barrels aged in Florida hence MF. We absolutely love the richness, character, and intense flavors these MF barrel produces. As long as they maintain their access to these barrels, the Rhody Barrel Brotherhood is going to continue picking them!

I’ve been in love with Chardonnays for years. World class without any shadow of a doubt. Elegant, complex, textured. They tick ALL the boxes.

Here I am drinking a from them for the first time and WOW! This is an absolute delight with pure fruit, spiced edginess, lovely texture, energy, and precise acid. I shouldn’t be shocked as I opined on their Chards. Amazing stuff. Everyone that loves Pinot Noir needs to try this.
