Jordan had a great time at the Dyersburg Sportsplex today! Tommy said as soon as they pulled into the parking lot, Jordan said, “Thank you very much!” She has a great time and insisted on picking up all of the balls before she left. Thank you for hosting special needs Wednesdays this summer!❤️❤️❤️

“Armando” is a 45lb Pit Bull mix. He is 4 years old. He can sit on command. He is active and loves to play with doggy toys. He enjoys the sunshine and lots of belly rubs. He needs a couch to lay around on and a yard to frolic in.
He has temp tested well with other dogs.
He is fully vaxed and heartworm negative. With a secured adoption, he will be neutered.
His adoption fee is WAIVED until June 30th.

Please share this post in hopes that we can get this best good boy out of this shelter and into a life that he very much deserves.

Jordan made some friends at the basketball court at Okeena today! She wanted to play with these boys on their hoop. When I explained she’s special needs and likes to wander around; The mother told me her boys were also on the spectrum! Not only did they share their space, but one of them even kept giving the ball back to Jordan every time she shot. They would clap when she scored! She loved that. I feel like Jordan could sense they were similar to her. Very nice people! I didn’t catch their names, but thank yall! It made Jordan’s day to have that little social interaction.

As many of you know, Tommy has taken on a bigger role as a caregiver for Jordan. He’s been taking her out into the community to exercise and work on her social skills. She is always ready to go anywhere with Tommy and he’s doing great with her.

One of Jordan’s favorite activities is playing basketball. They go to Okena Park or the Dyersburg Activity Center to play basketball. In fact, the only thing Jordan likes better than basketball is swimming. Yesterday at the Dyersburg Activity Center, she decided to combine both activities when the door to the pool was left open while they were preparing for the season. And no, the pool is not open yet.

After Jordan’s mad dash to the pool, we learned a few things. We learned that Jordan is faster than Tommy when she wants something, as he did not catch up to her before she jumped into the pool fully clothed. We learned that Jordan is not afraid of cold water. We also learned that the employees from the activity center are awesome!

Thank you to our friends at the Dyersburg Activity Center for being so understanding about our Jordy Bear. Parenting an autistic young adult like Jordan comes with a unique set of challenges, not the least of which is keeping her from jumping into a pool while fully clothed.

I also have to send a special thank you to the best son and big brother in the world, Thomas Coronado. Tommy has been trying very hard to help with Jordan and she is blessed to have such a wonderful brother. Tommy, I know that Jordan can be a handful, but you are contributing to the progress that she’s been making. AIways know that I could not be any more proud you and everything that you do for our family.❤️❤️❤️🏀🏀🏀
