Wednesday World Pour
Chimay Premiere aka Red Label
Scourmont Abbey: Chimay, Belgium
Fun Facts:
1. Chimay Red was the first beer created by the Trappist monks at Chimay in 1862, and the recipe has remained virtually unchanged. The original copper brewing kettles from that era are still displayed at the brewery.
2. Like all Trappist beers, Chimay Red is brewed by actual monks within the walls of a working monastery. The profits support the monastery and its charitable works in the community. Scourmont Abbey, where it's brewed, was founded in 1850.
3. The characteristic copper-red cap of Chimay Red is more than just branding—it was originally chosen to help the monks easily distinguish between their different brews in the monastery's dark cellars.
Tasting Notes:

Perfect for colder weather, this Dubbel-style ale showcases the rich brewing tradition of Trappist monasteries and pairs beautifully with hearty foods or can be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative sipper.
