When I can’t just let a door frame be a door frame 🚪🤎 Room 1 (our one + only fab King Suite!) is going to be back online / available for booking starting next week. The perfect destination for a little Valentines Day getaway if I do say so myself 💞

She’s got a showerhead, incredible new shades, a fresh coat of paint in the sleeping nook, and will have a beautiful new (massive!) art print on the wall by my talented friend behind the camera !

We also found the perfect vintage sofa for this room that’s going to tie the whole space together, so in place of a futon you’ll now have the option for a cot in this room if you need extra crash space!

… heads up we’re gonna be calling you to come photograph this new room vibe stat!! 📸

Sometimes it feels glacial the pace at which we can accomplish projects, being a seasonal and rural business. But when I find myself scrolling back through photos of the past nearly three years since buying this rad little motel, I realize: damn, we’ve done a lot!

We’ve added a retail shop. A self-service canteen. Transformed an old garage space into an eclectic little lounge. Infused art and thoughtful amenities into our rooms. Made many building upgrades. Streamlined our operations to level up the guest stay experience from check-in through check-out.

And we aren’t done! Today I’m roadtripping with to Salida to pick up some equipment + goods from that will put a bow on the build out of the — and hopefully bring some good juju from all that Molly built with her special small biz that we admire so much!

I can’t wait to *finally* debut our cafe, bar counter, and venue and start hosting guests + neighbors for special events, craft caffeine and cocktails, small plates, and fresh grab-n-go provisions. We’re aiming for April! The journey to opening this space has been long and windy, but I promise will be oh so worth it! 💫

Also still in the works? A paved interior courtyard, an enclosed patio for year round outdoor hangs, a beautiful retaining wall (yes retaining walls can be beautiful!) to enclose our trash area, a leveled up sun porch for al fresco dining out front of the Lounge, and hand painted building signage by the talented ! Bring it on, 2025 💪

▫️WHERE? The Lunar Lounge at The Mellow Moon Lodge (1160 Grand Ave in Del Norte)

▫️WHAT? Mahjong lessons + game play + an espresso martini bar! Two lovely Mahjong instructors from are coming to to instruct + help guide the game, and we’ll have an espresso martini cocktail bar set up thanks to our pals 🎲🍸☕️ Plus you’ll get the first glimpse of prior to our ~official~ opening in April!

▫️COST? $65 per player, which includes two cocktails and a full game setup with instruction and a take-home National Mahj League Playing Card. Ticket price alsoooo includes entry into the event raffle — one lucky attendee will go home with a bottle of Uncle Tim’s Espresso Martinis and a Mahjong Game Set valued at over $450 buckeroos.

This year, I’m stoked about our plans to add even more unique artwork to our rooms finally coming to fruition! Some pieces have been part of my personal collection for years (finally making their Moon debut), others are fresh finds from new fave artists—complete with custom frame jobs thanks to . Almost every piece adorning our guest room walls is for sale. That’s right, you can take home a one-of-a-kind souvenir right off the walls!

I’m especially pumped about an upcoming large-format print by the incredibly talented . It’s going to be HUGE and will soon be front and center in the revamped King Suite. (Room 1 is shaping up to be quite the rodeo-inspired haven. Can’t wait to reveal in progress updates to y’all in just a few weeks!)
