Johnson's injury cam during practice Friday at Long Beach, but his team created a splint to go around the injury allowing him to grip the wheel and participate in the IndyCar event as planned.

The seven-time NASCAR champ fractured his hand last week, raced at Long Beach, then had a screw inserted this week to fix the problem.

There was rain, especially for the Cup guys. There were vicious wrecks that led to red flags. And, of course, there were bruised egos. COTA had it all

The 63rd running of the Daytona 500 will go green just after 3 p.m., and all eyes leading up to then will be on the sky.
