Joe Ugoletti opened this restaurant in 1953, married his waitress in 1955, and then had three daughters: Monica, Brenda, and Jo Ann (current owner). Jo Ann chose to carry on her father's tradition of providing a delicious, home cooked meal; good service; and a warm, inviting atmosphere to the locals and those visiting our great neighborhood.
Joe's Viaduct is known for having the first pizzas in Allegany County. The recipe for the dough and sauce were given to Joe by a drifter, back in 1953, in exchange for a free month's rent. At the time, they thought the drifter was off his rocker because no one had heard of "pizza pie" at that time in the area. Despite his reservations, Joe decide to accept the nameless drifter's offer. This is still the recipe used to make Joe's Viaduct's pizzas over 65 years later.
