❤️ ADOPTED ❤️
This cutie is LUCY!
STATS: 2 year old Chiweenie
LOCATION: Pensacola FL
NEEDS: A family who can spend time with her, should be an only dog.
HIGHLIGHTS: Great with people, would be a fabulous family dog, and housebroken!

Lucy is a 2 year old, 13.4 pound Chihuahua Dachshund mix surrendered to us. Lucy is a very sweet and affectionate pup. She loves to snuggle and get belly rubs. She also loves to give lots and lots of kisses (like a lot). She is very in tune with her person's feelings and she's always there to give extra love and cuddles when you need it. Lucy will follow her person around the house all day and is happiest if she can be where they are. She is very good with people, and loved a nine year old boy she was around recently. That said, Lucy would be best as an only dog. She loves attention and will put herself in between you and any other dog you're petting to make sure she gets her fair share and then some. Lucy can get protective of her person and of her space with other dogs. She can be crankly when they get too close to her, especially bigger dogs. Like many small dogs, she doesn't know that she's a little girl. She has not been around cats since we've had her. Lucy is housebroken! She enjoys being outside, but not alone and she would be great with a fenced yard. At bedtime she loves to sleep in the big bed. She doesn't care if she's under or over the covers. She also likes to nap in a chair or on the couch, or anywhere she can settle near her humans. Her foster mom says she has never seen her play with toys or other dogs. Aside from being barky with other dogs, Lucy is really calm and sweet! She has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, f***l tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She does still need to be spayed and that procedure will be scheduled at one of our vets and is covered by the rescue. If you are looking for your new best friend, look no further than Lucy! Good Morning Facebook friends !

💫💗Saturday update!!! I’m Ginger💔
I will be at the hotel all day - maybe today is my day that I will get my miracle of a forever home💔💫🐶

This is 12 year old Ginger. Her dad passed away on 12/31. Adoptions don’t always go as planned and Ginger has not been adopted.

She does not act her age. She gets along well with all people and children, cats and dogs. She has had all veterinary care for a year and her labwork is all normal

Ginger is big for the hotel, so she will be available Friday,Saturday
12:30-6 and Sunday 3-6 at the hotel!

With that being said- we are looking for a mature , retired mom and dad or either- as she had before. We will
Be accepting applications- which we need to add to all of our animals- it is not a guaranteed adoption. Also since we have a building- we don’t foster or do trial visits for a short time. Total adjustment of heartbroken dogs has been reported to be thru research 3 months.

If you meet Ginger- adoption will happen when your application is approved and you know that she is the dog for you without a doubt❤️

You guys! PHOENIX is adorable!
STATS: 1 year old mixed breed
LOCATION: Pensacola FL
NEEDS: Fenced yard, a dog friend would be nice. He's a puppy so he needs a home where he's going to get activity, attention and exercise.
HIGHLIGHTS: Very sweet and loving pup.

Phoenix was unexpectedly found one morning dumped in Francine's fenced yard, freezing cold and terrified. After being bribed with food he came inside to warmth, and his new life began! Phoenix is about a year old and weighs 18.2 pounds, which means he's close to fully grown. He is slightly underweight and should fill out a bit more, but we don't think he'll be more than 25 pounds. We aren't sure of his breed, but he looks like he has some dachshund in him, among other things! Phoenix is very timid when he first meets a new person. We don't think he was treated very well by people, or at the very least he wasn't in a home where he knew a lot of love. It takes him a little bit to warm up and trust. He looks at you with these beautiful sad eyes and you just want to hug him and make him all better! Once he knows a person he turns into a playful and clingy little guy. He really wants to be loved and acts like he didn't get much attention before coming to us. He loves to cuddle and get lots of pets, and he will happily curl up on the couch with his person. Phoenix has some puppy behaviors, like trying to chew things he shouldn’t, and not understanding personal space (he might climb all over your face with excitement), but he will do well with someone to teach him the ropes. He is very praise and treat motivated. He really wants to please! Phoenix plays with toys and has started trying to play with the other dogs in his foster home. He would be good with another dog companion. If he is going to be an only dog in the home he needs to be where he can get lots of attention and time with his people. We think he’d be good with older kids. Cats he’d probably try to play with, but we have not been able to test that theory. Phoenix can be overwhelmed by a lot of activity and noise. When his foster mom's dogs were barking at a repair man, he thought they were barking at him and retreated to an open kennel to hide. He generally understands the idea of potty outside, but will have some accidents initially, especially if people aren’t home all the time to let him out regularly. Phoenix has been on walks, and half liked it and was half scared, but we think he’ll really grow to like them. His favorite so far has been a trip to a quiet beach. He does much better with fewer people and cars. One thing he is not a fan of is car rides. He gets nervous and shakes, maybe because he was left behind after going for a ride in one. His Foster family is working with him on this. He also doesn’t like being left alone outside. He doesn't like being left alone much at all actually. We think he's dealing with the trauma of being dumped. He whines a little when left, but then settles well. He's being fed in a crate so he can’t try to steal all the other dogs food, he has a voracious appetite! He would be good with a slow feeder bowl and portioned food. At night Phoenix likes to be in the big bed, snuggled up as close as possible. This pup is definitely a lover! Phoenix has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, f***l tested and wormed, is heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. His neuter has been scheduled at one of our vets in a couple of weeks. His adopter will need to make sure he gets to the vet for his appointment. Because he has a pending vet appointment locally he is only adoptable within a one hour drive to Pensacola. If you would like to give this little sweetheart a home and show him what it's like to be wanted and loved, please submit an adoption application for review by visiting our website aplaceofhoperescue.com or by using the link below.

This is a Pupdate with a simple message from this silly pup's owner.

Four words that made our hearts sing.

"Rusty loves his dad."

It's the story behind that message that makes it so special. You see, Rusty was adopted as a puppy and abused by his prior owner, a man. He had been hit, kicked, and screamed at, and this was witnessed, we aren't guessing. Rusty came to us terrified of everyone, especially men. But his new family took a chance on him and brought him home. They loved him through his fear and trauma until he learned to trust and feel safe. This pic and the four word message accompanying it made our day. Thank you to Rusty's family for loving him and helping him lead a normal, happy doggy life! And Happy Tails Rusty! ❤️
