9 GOLDEN TICKETS AVAILABLE - REDEEMABLE FOR A $1,000 winestore. GIFT CARD

*Curbside Pickup Always Available*

Reminder we open at 9am Thursday, Friday and Saturday!

* This item is not available for shipping *

After an epic launch of our 12 Nights of Wine Holiday Box last year, we are back with a new edition in 2024 - and we're pulling out all the stops.

Our goal here is to stretch the realm of what you think is possible when it comes to quality and price, all the while trying to have a little fun.

We're doing 12 bottles of delicious winestore wine - and you'll get the whole box (and the chance at a $1,000 gift card) for $99.99.

It's a collection of best sellers packed into an advent calendar style box to make your holidays even more merry and bright! Each night you can enjoy being surprised with a new bottle. With a mix of both reds and whites, this holiday box is perfect for any wine drinker.

Much like last year, we are going all W***y Wonka on this thing as well and placing 9 Golden Tickets (one for each store) in the boxes, and those Golden Tickets are redeemable for a $1,000 winestore. gift card.

You read that correctly. Worst case scenario you get 12 delicious bottles of wine at the lowest price in the US (and an extra discount from our already low price) - best case scenario is you get $1,000 shopping spree for any wines you want, plus 12 delicious bottles!

Is this the perfect holiday gift? I mean it may just be. I've already given 4 away to friends and family and they have been a huge hit.

Might be feeling a little bit like Charlie this holiday season!!

Every year around the holidays we ask our suppliers who wants to step up and make some waves? This year, it was Kingstree Wines.

They've put pricing in place to allow us to sell our #2 Chardonnay by volume for $12.99 all the way up until Thanksgiving!

Kingstree is kind of a sneaky #2. Last time we even featured it in a newsletter was when the new vintage arrived almost 6 months ago - yet the wine just continues on cruise control.

California winemaking master Rob Fischer is no stranger to epic high end wine. His track record includes stints at Cuvaison, Beaulieu Vineyards, Etude, Lyric, and several others. The dude knows what he's doing.

But while he can churn out the expensive stuff, his passion is providing unbelievable value for the money. We've seen it in his value projects like Valravn (have you had their Pinot Noir?!?!?!?), Averaen, and Marine Layer.

With the Kingstree Chardonnay, I think you'll get what we are talking about. It is BIG, lush Chardonnay that competes on the table with some competition churning out wines at more than 2x the price. 100% of the Chardonnay fruit in this gem comes from Santa Barbara, and at $12.99 per bottle, it's a dream.

So let's get to it, shall we!?

TGIF everyone!

The fastest sellout of 2023, and again this spring, was En Numerous Vermells. So much so this is the first e-mail newsletter we have ever been able to feature it in!

When Silvia Puig started this project, dubbed En NĆŗmeros Vermells, it was to satisfy her creative side, and to give her a chance to draw from some of the smaller scale vineyards that her father had once helped manage, and for which she remained close to the vineyard managers. But it was, and is, a diminutive project so she gave it a name that essentially means, ā€œin the redā€, since she knew she would never make money at it. Thatā€™s why she consults with other, perhaps better known, producers in Spainā€™s preeminent Priorat region: she can pay the bills, and focus upon this lovely, handmade wine, comprised of Garnacha Peluda (a rare variety) along with Syrah and CariƱena.

I actually found the write up from Chain Bridge Cellars (the retailer with the price above), worth a read:

"1,453 bottles (121 cases) made. Weā€™ve sold every commercial release of this wine, starting with the 2011 which remains my personal benchmark for the greatest young red wine Iā€™ve ever tasted. Until now. Somehow, Silvia has taken the wild, intense, borderline out of control, essence of Priorat and given it just enough polish and finesse and style to vault it upwards into the ranks of just plain great wines of the whole world. While still remaining unmistakably Priorat. If youā€™ve bought this wine in the past, youā€™re nuts if you donā€™t buy more this year. If youā€™ve never tried it, please donā€™t miss the chance to be wowed."

All I will tell you is I echo some of the sentiments here...this is some special stuff.

What is even more special, is that we can actually now bring it to you for less than $40 per bottle! This is the first time this wine has ever been available in the United States at this price!

For the third year in a row, we are going to take our two best selling wines year to date, and put them on sale this week.

This seems like an especially good year to do this, as I think some people may need some wine for tonight? And tomorrow? šŸ˜

The two wines? Not only are they the same two wines as last year, the wines continue to make waves.

Coming off already crazy numbers, Snowvale Cabernet sales are up a wild 18% and BeniĆØres Chardonnay? Up 36% YTD šŸ‘€

You guys know good wine when you taste it!

In a world where every single day a vendor tells us prices are going up because "their prices are going up and we have to do it", the ability to bring you these two wines for only $9.99 per bottle is what gets us excited. We've said it before and I'll say it again; At no time in our 18 year history has the selection of extremely high quality, yet affordable wine, been higher.

So let's toast to all things that are awesome and inexpensive, am I right?

Meiomi Chardonnay for $12.97 per bottle? But of course!

Back in 2015, Joe Wagner, whose father owns Caymus and who had been instrumental in developing new brands for the Wagner family (like Meiomi), sold the brand to Constellation Brands for $315 million in 2015. Let that sink in for a second.

Constellation, one of the largest beer, wine and spirits companies in the world (oh, yeah, they have massive cannabis holdings in Canada too) bought only the brand for crazy money; no vineyards, no winery, nothing but some wine with labels on it. Now, what does that say about Meiomi and its style of wine? Somebody bet really, really, really big on it and, so far, the bet has worked out. Unlike their cannabis project in Canada. šŸ˜‚

So we're just going to leave that price right up there for you, and keep it short and sweet today šŸ˜‚

Happy Wednesday everybody! Let's get to it!

I have received no less than 3,294 e-mails asking when these wines are going to be $9.99 again...and we told the winery we are in the business of giving the people what they want...so we needed to make some magic happen!

Langtry came through in a big way!

There are two things to know here: one of them is that this wine for $9.99 represents some pretty unreal value and a is a real testament to what Northern California is still capable of in terms of affordable yet delicious red and white wine.

The other thing to know?

So there was a wine made by a Guenoc Winery and Langtry Winery partnership called "Lillie's Collection Red Blend" for a California wine powerhouse called BevMo.

Langtry has continued to produce the wine for BevMo after a split up with Guenoc, but Bevmo found out that we were also able to buy the wine (these things get complicated I guess) and they didn't like that we put it on sale for $9.99 and the wine absolutely went bonkers. That said, they still have Lillie's wines in all shapes and sizes for over $25 per bottle!

Anyhoo - we've continued to be able to get the wine, and the winery has continued to allow us to be able to put it on sale, so we're not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth here. Let's get while the gettin' is good!

What's up with the winery?

Langtry Farms was originally founded back in the 19th Century by entertainer Lillie Langtry, who purchased 4,200 acres in Northern California around 1888. Today, Langtry Estate makes up over 21,000 acres and is one of the largest contiguous land holdings in all of California.

So $9.99 through Sunday at midnight - you guys know what to do.

This will be one of the top wine deals you will see this year...and getting a deal like this is why we love doing what we do!!

Can we bring you a wine that drinks exactly like Sancerre, without the Sancerre price, at the lowest price ever offered in the US?

The answer is...yes!

In our constant quest to bring you the best possible wines at the lowest possible prices, today we have for you a real treat - 2023 Domaine L'Ermitage Menetou-Salon PremiĆØre CuvĆ©e.

Without sounding like hyperbole is the theme of the day, at $14.99 per bottle this could possibly rank as one of the best quality to price ratio wines that you will ever try. That is not an exaggeration.

The places selling this for $30? The wine for sure competes at that price...but at $15? Think the 1992 Dream Team type domination...

Domaine de L'Ermitage is a fairly new estate, founded by the daughter of one of the most influential figures in the region, Bernard Clement. Laurence de la Farge, and her husband, Geraud, built on Clementā€™s legacy; today their children, Antoine and Sophie, run this large and successful domaine. Their vineyard extends over 1300 acres (which in this region and industry has some wow factor), and the wines are very traditional and terroir-driven.

As for this wine in particular?

Sancerre and Pouilly-FumƩ, once ubiquitous on shelves and wine lists, are getting hard to find today. Smart buyers are looking at the AOCs next door, like Menetou-Salon, just a few miles west of those two better known Sauvignon Blanc vineyards. And just like those places, the soils are a mix of Kimmeridgian limestone and the even more famed soil, silex. Silex deserves its fame; it provides tension and complexity to the aromatic Sauvignon Blanc grape.

Think crisp, dry, and uber refreshing.

So if Sancerre is your thing, or Sauvignon Blanc, or honestly just great white wine - this is a do not miss!

Reminder we open at 9am Thursday - Saturday

So this sale has only been going on since Wednesday and you guys have bought in just 3 days the same amount of wine you had bought year to date up until Wednesday - so I think you all may enjoy this one as much as we do!! (or you're like me and if you can find awesome wine for less than $10 you buy with abandon)...

As we told you earlier in the week, there is no question this is one of the best red wines in the entire store.

This wine has been $9.99 only one other time before - and you all bought over 100 cases in just 4 days šŸ‘€

The first time I tasted this 100% Grenache from Colline du Bonnet I thought it tasted like a dead ringer for one of my favorite wines of all time, Alban Grenache. I'm not kidding, not even a little bit, and just for price comparison Alban Grenache, any vintage, lowest price in the US right now is $89 per bottle šŸ‘€

So how does a wine like this get made?

For most wine people, Languedoc-Roussillon is still a monolithic expanse of undifferentiated vineyards ā€“ but, as in that cartoon with the two babies peering into their diapers, ā€œthere is a difference!ā€ Some areas see more sea influence than mountain influence; some sites are windier, and some are decidedly hotter. Collineā€™s Grenache vines are baked in the sun around the town of CĆ©bazon in eastern Languedoc, and still enjoy enough of the Mediterranean breezes to retain some acidity. The winemaking is more traditional than modern (cold soaking the grapes for two days is still new thinking) but otherwise the grapes stay on the skins in vats for at least a month; then see long aging in cement cubes. It's old school winemaking that produces extreme value results.

All I can tell you is that this is a back up the truck situation. At $9.99 I'm not going to tell you how much I'm buying as it is borderline irresponsible.

It's that time of year! You know, when it finally cools down from summer, and that first time you have to put the sweater on to leave the house (it kinda reminds me of the opening line of this song for some reason...also how good is that song)

At this point though, cold weather doesn't slow down rosƩ. RosƩ has basically become a year round sensation, but that doesn't stop our suppliers from being scared to have the product over the winter months. It's like they don't even know rosƩ is the ultimate Thanksgiving pairing!

Hey - their loss is your / our gain, as we took advantage of some end of season distributor closeouts and have, of course, passed the savings on to you guys. It's just how we roll. Oh - we're also bringing these to you at the lowest online prices in the United States :)

You might need some wine for trick or treating, or for the upcoming Holidays, or just because...and rosƩ always seems like a good option to me!

One thing I know for certain. You will not find a better lineup of rosƩ at these prices anywhere in the United States.

How we all can help Asheville and WNC: https://buff.ly/3NjCoEI

Our Asheville store is back to fully operational today, taking credit cards etc. (well, the phones are still down but that's ok)

No question you all love Brooks Bank as much as I do. This is evidenced by the sheer volume of solid six packs of this wine that have gone out the door since Wednesday.

Why is it on sale?

With our Dunwoody store opening last week, to help celebrate Bodegas Lo Nuevo offered up the chance for us to put Brooks Bank Cabernet on Sale again for $14.99 - and obviously we did not pass up the chance.

Brooks Bank is epic Cabernet.

It is:
- Winner of this year's Prisoner Blind Tasing
- Runner up to our Wine of the Year in 2022
- Earlier this year, Vivino listed it as the 6th best Cabernet made in Spain at any price point! šŸ‘€
- Since its release it is the 9th best selling wine in the store all time

I mean - that is a pretty insane lead up, right?

It's only the 8th time we have ever been able to offer this price in 18 years, and at $14.99 represents Cabernet Sauvignon value that I would put up against any Cab on planet earth at this price.

Why is this wine so good?

When one of the best winemaking teams in Europe get together and gather juice from some of the oldest Cabernet vineyards in Spain (pic here), and age the wine in barrels typically reserved for $100+ wines (pic of the barrel here), and the retail price is set to be less than $40...we take serious interest.

When we can put it on sale for $14.99? It's time to back up the truck.

It is powerful, poised and persuasive Cabernet and to put it frankly, stupid cheap for the money. Honestly, I wish this was one of those things that would never run out of supply.

Two days left!

I already have my six pack! šŸ˜‚

SALE ends Friday October 11th, 2024

I did not have Highland Falls winning the Caymus Blind Tasting on my bingo card, but that is why blind tastings are so much fun - anything can happen.

It doesn't hurt that the new vintage from this long time favorite is absolutely lights out - which has helped propel it to become the most affordable winner of this tasting...ever!

I get it why people love it so much and why it did so well.

It was our 2020 Wine of the Year. It sold more bottles than any other wine in 2021, and the momentum seems to only be picking up speed... (so much so the winery was out of stock for 4 months in 2022 and 3 months in 2023).

It holds the store record for most bottles ever sold over a 5 day period.

The list goes on and on.

On sale for $9.99 it is at the top of any value list for me.

What's up with the wine?

"Mountain-grown, itā€™s the richest kind,ā€ as coffee commercials used to say, but itā€™s also true of Cabernet. You rarely, if ever, can find mountain fruit in $12 wines. Like, I can't even think of one off the top of my head.

Foley Family's winemaking pedigree being involved doesnā€™t hurt either: the guys who bring you Merus, Chalone, Sebastiani and Chalk Hill Wines are behind the powerhouse Highland Falls lineup too.

It's kinda like if the people behind Dom Perignon launched a $12 sparkler - or the winemaking team behind Rombauer rolled out a $12 Cali Chardonnay.....these are the best of the best in the Cabernet world, bringing you world class value.

Thank you to everyone who came out and voted.

In a world of overpriced chinos and some people possibly believing that Roadhouse (the original!) was not a great movie, we're pleased to be able to report that you can still count on two things in this world - low wine prices and an awesome selection here at winestore.

To celebrate the opening of our 9th location, and our first location in the great State of Georgia, we are hosting a sale (of course!). We picked two wines from each of our sections - light, medium and full bodied white and reds, as well as two sparkling wines and two rosƩ - that we feel best represent what we do best here at winestore.

What's our new store gonna be like?

- Delicious wines hand selected by Master Sommelier & Master of Wine Doug Frost? Indeed...
- Guaranteed lowest prices in GA and NC (and in many cases the nation)? But of course.
- Ability to try before you buy on tasting machines? You know it!
- Award winning customer service? It's the only way...

If you love wine and know people in the Dunwoody / greater Atlanta area, please send them our direction if you are so inclined. All our stores carry the same product, have the same deals, etc - so feel confident if you're loving something in Charlotte / Morrisville / Cornelius / Chapel Hill / Wilmington / Raleigh or Asheville, your friends in Dunwoody and Atlanta can now get in on the action! Driving directions can be found below - and you can also call us with any questions @ (470) 709-2289.

Lastly a HUGE THANK YOU to all of our customers. Your support has allowed us to continue to expand, and we want to make sure you know we are humbled every day by your support, and are honored by the opportunity to serve you and your family.

Caymus Cabernet is one of the hottest selling wines in any given year, but if we placed it in a lineup with less expensive offerings - could you pick it out? Would it still be your favorite? We're going to find out this weekend!

I mean, a Ducati is supposed to go faster than a bicycle, and a $70 wine is supposed to taste better than a $25 one. Right? Well, maybe not. A wine's success isn't measured in MpH, it's measured in the taste that is transferred from the glass to your mouth. If you don't know the price, can't see the label, and can't hear someone waxing poetic in your ear about the wine's "score," then all that is left is the juice and your taste buds. It's a scary proposition for any winemaker. That's why you have marketing departments that design catchy labels, create campaigns to build a wine's image, and spend all of their time and energy essentially trying to convince consumers that a wine is great. The problem is that you can't out "market" a blind tasting.

Which is why we're playing "Find the Caymus Cabernet" this Saturday - and I have to tell you this may the the most competitive lineup we have ever put together. The format is simple really. Eight wines will all be tasted blind on our tasting machines each at a cost of $1.00. ($8 to get through the whole tasting) One of them will be the 2022 Caymus Cabernet and the others will be an assortment of wines at every price point from a number of different regions. All you have to do is taste and pick your favorite. Yes, that's right, your favorite. If that's the Caymus, then great, if not, well that's OK too. You may be surprised as to what your favorites actually are.

We hope to see you Saturday - we can't wait to see who the winner will be!

How we all can help Asheville: HERE

Reminder we open at 9am Thursday - Saturday

Only 4 pallets came to the United States!

Many of you were out this weekend to taste some Pinot, and the top vote getter in our huge Pinot Noir lineup was making its debut in the United States this weekend!

To celebrate a victory by Domaine Priou over titans such as Kosta Browne and Williams Selyem, we're putting it on sale for $9.99 through Sunday...(to put it in perspective some of those other wines are $90+ šŸ‘€)

FranƧois et Jean-FranƧois Priou mostly grow Sauvignon Blanc along the River Cher; their Touraine Sauvignon Blanc is a great value. But as the world warms up, certain places that didnā€™t used to be able to ripen certain grapes are finding it easier to show off. While you might not think of the Loire Valley for Pinot Noir, itā€™s routinely grown there and, if you havenā€™t had a chance to drink any of the lighter, ethereal versions of the grape in this region, itā€™s because the yields are small, and the locals gobble up most of it.

Now is your chance to see why the locals try to keep all this wine for themselves. Many tasters last weekend figured it out quickly.

We'll keep it short and sweet today. This one is a keeper!!

To all our winestore. community members,

No question that by now you have seen on the news, through social media or personally experienced the severe devastation that Asheville and all of Western North Carolina has sustained in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Our team members are safe, and we are working with them to hopefully get them everything they need to get back on track.

In a scenario like this it is easy to feel helpless. Where can I help? Is there anything we can do?

We have found that the best place to start in a disaster like this is making sure that people are able to get fresh food and water ā€“ and there is no better organization equipped for that than the amazing people at the World Central Kitchen .

winestore. is trying to do what we can, and we are starting by donating $5,000 to World Central Kitchen. We are hopeful you will consider donating as well.

Bearā€™s Smokehouse BBQ is providing meals daily beginning at 12pm for all who are in need. This is also the main and those needing food delivered should contact to inquire about remote distribution.

As the extent of the losses and the needs of the area become more clear, we will come back with more opportunities to help.

We love all of you so much! The mountains of North Carolina will come back stronger than ever, but they need all of our help to get there!

The Story Behind winestore.

When we started this concept over a decade ago, we didnā€™t want to merely trod down a path where someone else had cut away the brush. Our real goal was to create a wine store that was friendly to everyone, not just the usual Napa Cab buyers (not that thereā€™s anything wrong with that, as Seinfeld used to say). We looked at how could we brighten up the stores, make them easy to walk through, and allow people to even taste the wines before they bought them. That all seemed so obvious at the time, yet it wasnā€™t happening as far as we could tell.

So we set to work. We were able to find people who loved wine but understood the bigger issue ā€“ that itā€™s not what the wine retailer loves that matters; itā€™s what the customer loves. Heck, we all have different palates, thatā€™s why we like different wines! The job of a great retailer is to make sure to understand the customerā€™s preference first and then find the very best version of that style and type of wine that he or she can. Thatā€™s the whole reason we trademarked the phrase ā€œYouā€™re the expertā€.

Price came into it as well (we are retailers after all!). We continue to believe to our core that you shouldnā€™t have to spend thirty or fifty dollars or whatever to get a really good bottle of wine. The wine world is far too diverse and interesting today for that to be necessary. So we keep hitting the tastings and visiting places in Spain, Argentina, New Zealand, Italy, Washington State, wherever, to find wines that perform well above their price. We also stand by our everyday guarantee to you; everything we sell will be priced at the lowest retail price in North Carolinaā€¦and on many things we are going to offer you the lowest price in the United States. Thatā€™s just how we roll. We want to look out for your pocketbook the same way we would look out for our own.

Now, over a decade later, we seem to have found our customers and theyā€™ve found us. Itā€™s on us to keep listening to the people who walk in our doors, finding out what they like (rather than selling them the next shiny object), and bringing it to them at the best possible price. Maybe weā€™ll soon be able to celebrate our twentieth anniversary if we can stay focused on that.
