Good morning Vernon. Boy has our community been busy on thier keyboards lately. I will respond so there is some accuracy out in the social media world.
We are trying to differentiate ourselves form DG, to make more options availble out here. So if they carry it, we may not. We are also not a WM, we can not carry everything.
Gas prices have been lowered and we will continue to try and lower them. That all depends on volume. The more we sell, the more we buy, the better prices we get.
Produce - with the increased business at the deli, we have not been able to keep up with the demand on produce for our own needs. So we TEMPORARILY stopped selling produce until we could catch our breath. We were approached by a produce stand and we gladly accepted their offer to sell produce outside. Due to lack of sales, that did not work. We will be back to the drawing board on produce for another solution. I love the idea of selling fresh produce since DG does not. Just give us a minute and stay posted to our FB page for announcements.
Bread - When we purchased the store we lost our bread vendor. I recieved lots of complaints so I made a trip to WM and bought bread to sell. That bread is now sitting on the shelf going bad, so whether we continue to sell bread is to be seen.
Tranmission Fluid - The transmission fluid we sell is a full synthetic for multiple engines. It is a special transmion fluid to help people who are in a jamb. If you are not stuck on the side of the road, you probably want to go to town for your vehicle repairs or maintenance. We do not have the expertise or space to carry all the products an O'reilly's or Auto Zone carries.
Hardware Store - Unfortuately, this was used only by people when they forgot a nut or a bolt. Not enough sales to justify a person to be in the building full time, which led to a very high level of theft. We closed the building to prevent more items from being stolen and are renovating it into spaces we hope will be more beneficial to the community. Please keep watching our page for updates on that.
We have owned the SGS for less then 2 months. Give us some time. Some of the changes we are making are long term projects.
I also would like to encourage people to stop in and ask questions. We are here 15-17 hours a day. But please be kind. If you approach us as we have been treated on facebook, email, and even in person, calling us losers, trash, crooks, as****es and worse, we may respond in kind.
