Why Zelmo?
We get asked this question quite often. Why the name Zelmo? Steve, one of our founders, gained the nickname “Zelmo” while playing basketball in high school and over the years a close group of friends has always known him as “Zelmo.” Steve carried that nickname over to the convenience store brand and ran with it. While the name is rooted in an old basketball nickname the dog you see in our logo was actually created after a much-loved rescue pup who resided for years in the main office in Cuthbert, GA. She’s since passed away but her fun-loving spirit lives on in our logo.
