Let's make this season magical for every child!
Every year, Marines assist in gathering and distributing toys to children. The Toys for Tots foundation has been helping to collect and distribute toys to children during the holidays since 1947. This year, we are excited to be part of the opportunity to spread joy through this amazing foundation.
How You Can Spark Help:
๐ Gift a Toy: Select a brand-new, unwrapped toy and drop it off at your local Toys for Tots collection point.
๐ Monetary Support: Can't make it in person? Consider making a monetary donation to help purchase gifts for those who need it most.
Remember, every toy donated is a small package with the potential to bring a big smile. Let's make sure no child feels left out this holiday season.
๐ Spread the Word!
Tag your friends and family to join in this heartwarming cause. Together, we can create a ripple effect of kindness that brightens up the holiday season for countless children!
๐ Drop-off Location: Infantry Gifts located inside the National Infantry Museum.
โฐ Donation Deadline: Drop off before 22 December.

August 16, 1940, marks the date of the first official Army parachute jump at Ft. Benning, Georgia, now known as Fort Moore. The successful jump validated the innovative concept of inserting U.S. ground combat forces behind a battle line by parachute. Every year, we celebrate airborne units that continue this tradition on August 16th, Happy National Airborne Day!
We live a life worthy of their sacrifice. Daily. Do you? ๐บ๐ธ
We hope to see you this weekend at the National Infantry Museum!

The Iraq War: A 20-Year Retrospective
Join us at the National Infantry Museum on March 10th and 11th as we commemorate the 20th anniversary of the invasion into Iraq by hosting โThe Iraq War: A 20-Year Retrospectiveโ in conjunction with Columbus State University.
Panelists and Speakers include the worldโs thought leaders on topics such as Veteransโ experiences, the history of the war itself, the Iraqi experience, and the lessons we take forward from the war.
Expect candid but respectful debate as opposing views will be on stage intentionally in order to ensure all perspectives are allowed a chance to be heard.
A fraction of the thought leaders who have decided to join us include General Retired David Perkins, Colonel Retired Liam Collins, Dr. Catherine Lutz, as well as numerous senior active-duty leaders from the Armyโs Center for Army Lessons Learned as well as the infantry and medical communities.
Go to https://nationalinfantrymuseum.org/theiraqwar/ to rsvp, see the entire list of speakers, and review the schedule of events.

Step back into Fort Benning during WWII
Thanks to YOUR votes the National Infantry Museum won the 2021 Historic Columbus Foundation $100,000 Public Participation grant. With that, the Museum was able to repair all the roofs on WWII Company Street. This is the beginning of many renovations. Last Thursday, some of us gathered for a celebration to step back in time.
To give some background...
During the 1940s, Fort Benning rapidly expanded to meet the demands of the WWII military buildup. These โseries 700โ buildings were intended to last only as long as the war, but they proved to be so solidly constructed, they were kept in use well into the 1990s.
Finally, in the mid 1990s, the Army began dismantling the old โWorld War II woodโ to make way for modern construction. With the help of a generous donor, the National Infantry Museum Foundation was able to rescue from demolition one of each kind of building. The buildings were then reassembled and painstakingly restored next to the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center.
The barracks, mess hall, orderly room, supply room, chapel, and sleeping quarters and headquarters used by Gen. George S. Patton prior to his deployment to North Africa are the only fully-preserved set of series 700 buildings in existence. Rounding out the site are a period PT field and Sherman tank.
Take the Georgia World War II Heritage trail back to the 1940s and see how Fort Benning Soldiers lived and trained during the ramp-up to the war.
Tours of the authentic World War II Company Street are at 11am and 2pm Thursdays and Fridays (based on availability), 11 am and 2pm on Saturdays and 1pm on Sundays.
Sign up for the tour at the Information Desk or give them a call at 706-685-5800 anytime during the week to schedule for the weekend.

-
I am the Infantry.
I am my countryโs strength in War,
her deterrent in peace.
I am the heart of the fight โ
wherever, whenever.
I carry Americaโs faith and honor
against her enemies.
I am the queen of Battle.
I am what my country expects me to be โ
the best trained soldier in the world.
In the race for victory,
I am swift, determined, and courageous,
armed with a fierce will to win.
Never will I fail my countryโs trust.
Always I fought on โ
through the foe,
to the objective,
to triumph over all.
If necessary, I fight to my death.
By my steadfast courage,
I have won 200 years of freedom.
I yield not:
to hunger,
to cowardice,
to fatigue,
to superior odds,
for I am mentally tough, physically strong,
and morally straight.
I forsake not โ
my country,
my mission,
my comrades,
my sacred duty.
I am relentless
I am always there,
now and forever.
