It's definitely the time of year where people are looking for splurge a little, so we've certainly been having fun pouring tastings and teaching classes on the world's premier luxury wine regions. But wine can't (and shouldn't) always be expensive!

Sometimes you just need a good Tuesday-night pizza wine...

We're talking about having something absolutely delicious but that doesn't have to demand your attention and certainly doesn't break the bank.

To that end, this coming Tuesday we are throwing a little party up at The Citizens Trust! We are going to be pouring some of our favorite inexpensive wines that are perfect to load up on by the case so that you can pop a cork when you feel like it without feeling guilty.

To set those wines off, we are inviting La Baia food truck to pump out some incredible authentic Neapolitan style pizzas for you to enjoy.

La Baia only started a couple of months ago in Columbus, but they are blowing up, and it's no surprise why. La Baia was founded by Briside Rea, who immigrated here from Italy 11 years ago after also running food businesses there. After coming to the US she missed making food for the people, so she started a truck in Los Angeles. Now they just moved to Columbus and are quickly becoming darlings of the city.

It’s sate to say we are a house divided here at Accent. Our customers have been known to clash over Lambrusco in heated Friday night debates. Dry, sweet, dark, rose-which is best? Come cast your vote as we pop open six different bottles of Italy’s favorite bubbly. Bring a friend to argue with and taste our Lambrusco flight this week, then cast your vote! Which Lambrusco will reign supreme?

When we first opened our shop, it was on the heels of Covid and nothing was going on in downtown Columbus. In a short three years thanks to local businesses, residents and developers like Jeff Edwards that story is much different today. Standing on our street corner at night you can feel the energy!

We are thrilled to announce we are staying open later now. Accent is now open until 9:00, so you can shop late or do a flight before having dinner at one of the many incredible restaurants downtown. What’s more, we now are offering a small selection of cheeses courtesy of Black Radish Creamery and Veritas.

Holy smokes! Our inaugural Burgundy La Paulée sold out in 45 minutes! We’ve have a number of people ask if any more seats will open up, so we’ve decided to host another date. The next Burgundy bash will be November 9. Tickets will go live on Tock on Friday October 4 at 6:00 PM, so keep your eyes peeled!

This is your chance to try some pretty exceptional wines like DRC (Domaine Romanee-Conti), Roulot, and Raveneau in 1 oz increments for as low as we can legally price it. Because we believe in democratizing these wines as much as possible.

The menu for the sold out tasting was as follows, and the new seating will be similar with a few adjustments (like adding Raveneau):

The wines are young, but the point here is to see where we are starting to see where we are going. We’ve back to back wine events coming up this week!

On Tuesday we are having an end of summer sale to make room for our fall wine selections. From 4:00-9:00 we are going to fill our table with wines on clearance.

More importantly, we are hosting an outstanding winemaker from Australia’s Adelaide Hills, Michael Downer! Michael is crafting some incredible cool climate Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir and he’ll be pouring his wines for you this Wednesday at 6:00!

It’s only few days away!

Darren Delmore, National Sales Manager for Tablas Creek, will be joining us Wednesday, June 12 for an intimate meet & greet tasting at Accent, and we still have a few spots available.
If you aren’t already familiar, Tablas Creek is one of the most important wineries in Paso Robles and a California icon. It was founded in 1987 by the Chateauneuf du Pape producer Chateau Beaucastel in collaboration with the famed wine importer Vineyard Brands. They brought with them a large amount of Rhone valley grape varieties from Grenache and Syrah to Mourvèdre, Roussanne, Marsanne, and even Picpoul. It was this vine material that they planted in their nursery that became the source for some of the greatest Rhone variety plantings in California, helping to kick off the Rhone Ranger movement.

Darren will be telling us more of this incredible story starting at 5:30 that day until 7:30. Here’s what he’ll be pouring:

Who’s ready for some incredible Marsala?! Yes, we all know it as a classic Italian dish, but Marsala is actually a wine, and a pretty special one at that. Sadly, oceans of very cheap and gross only meant for cooking fill the grocery store shelves and very little of the good stuff is even available for the conscientious sipper. But fear not! We got four bottles shipped in special from New York of some of the very best Marsala money can buy for our fortified wine class. There are still some seats left, so if you are curious about Marsala, plus have questions about what the different styles of port and sherry really mean, you definitely need to sign up. There are still some seats available for our Barolo Class on the evening of Tuesday the 26th!

We will be doing a deep dive into Italy’s most prestigious wine (which is also one of ‘s favorite appellations anywhere in the world). Learn the difference in flavor profiles and ageability of the major communes in Barolo and discuss the major stylistic differences between producers. Not to be missed for anyone who loves Nebbiolo!

We’re showcasing the wines of Domaine Bernard Baudry in our tasting flight next week. These are not only benchmark expressions of Cabernet Franc from Chinon; they also showcase some of the most clearly delineated expressions of terroir to be found in wine from anywhere in the world. It definitely doesn’t hurt that they are some of my very favorite wines in general! Not tickets necessary, just swing by for a flight next week to see for your self! — Andy

After a little hiatus for some R&D and R&R, we are proud to announce that wine classes are back!

Named one of the best things about Columbus by Columbus Monthly, our wine classes are approachable for the novice but in-depth enough to please the most seasoned of wine aficionados. Each class featured a flight of 6-8 wines and a complimentary cheese board.

We just wrapped up the inaugural which by all accounts was a smashing success. But for those who were able to attend, a line ring question that we get all the time is “what is natural when?” There’s still time to find out! We are absolutely floored to be listed in ’s Best of Columbus issue for our wine classes. We’ve only been here for a year and a half, but here we are, because of all of you!

Our Wine Academy is now officially back in session. We offer classes in person Tuesdays and Saturdays, in-store tastings daily, and a special monthly at-home blind tasting subscription in collaboration with the one and only . All this month we are celebrating the Camino del Albarino, an annual month long highlight of the incredible white wines of Rias Baixas, Spain 🇪🇸 put on by the wine importer . A portion of every bottle of Albarino sold goes to the charity . Come downtown to see the new art installation by Janet Echelman, leave with a bottle of wine and support a great charity. It’s a win-win(e)-win!
