Well... the True Grit part 2 event is in the books. What a fun weekend! Most all of the story's characters were there in town and each putting their own spin on the story. Rooster and LaBeouf were there attempting to locate Chaney , Moon and Lucky Ned Pepper. The sheriff of Fort Smith and the Judge were in town conducting business. Grandma Turner and Lawyer Goudy were rubbing everyone the wrong way.
There was plenty of laughter as well as gunsmoke in the air. The rain failed to dampen the spirits of all that were there. The new building, now dubbed the Boars Head, was broken in right with an impromptu pugilist match when the Arkansas champ challenged the local champ.
Everyone had fun and enjoyed stepping back in time to the 1880s. If you missed this event, you missed a good one. But,... there is always next time, and its already being planned. Get ready.

We have several new folks who came last event and we are excited to have them coming back! Looking forward to another fun filled weekend at the Crossing.
Make sure your event fee of $60 each or $75 for couples or family is sent in 2 weeks before the event .

Well, the first half of our True Grit event is in the books. And it was a fun event. I would like to commend each participant for a job well done on their character research and clothing. Everyone did a fantastic job. Scarcely a few minutes went by, without a memorable script line being said at the most appropriate moment. Lots of laughter, great food ( thank you Fred and Lisa ), and historical fun. If you missed the event, dont worry,... the second part of the story line will be played out in the fall, so you still have time to get in on the fun.
We added the True Grit characters into our town instead of Fort Smith so our normal citizens had a part as well. ( Our own spin to the story)

Another fun event in the books. Those of you who missed it, yall missed the fun. A new arrival in town, Stench Dickens, cousin to those fine folks in Bo**er Holler, claimed that he had been away learning to guide hunts and now had an outfitter service. He said dangerous game was his specialty and was hired quickly by Mr. Kimbrell to lead him on a bear hunt. A detour down to the holler was made at the beginning of the hunt and a jar of Hawkeyes Prime was taken along. Mr. Kimbrell doesnt remember much prior to attack, but both Stench and Fester claim that he had emptied the jar prior to locating the bear and said he jumped atop the animal attempting to wrestle it to the ground. Multiple shot were fired at the bear before they could save Kimbrell from the onslaught. Doc West patched up Mr. Kimbrell when they arrived in town and has said he believes a full recovery will happen soon.
The wounded bear with a taste for blood apparently tracked the hunters back to town that night and gave the patrons of the saloon quite a scare. The bear was driven by several brave individuals who were determined to take back their town. Hotel owner Joe Baker was heard saying.."I ain't going out there!"
A good time was had as we filmed a short Public Relations movie of the town during the down time on Saturday. It is in the editing stage and should be done soon
All in all, a fun weekend at the Crossing.
