The shop will be closed next week for a vacation. Your last chance for a Flowercup selection this month will be on Sunday, Jan. 21. Business will resume on Feb. 1.

In February the doors will reopen on Wednesdays.

Although we are operating on reduced winter hours, we continue to bring in new discoveries every week.

This Friday evening (Jan. 19), from 4:00 to 6:00, we’ll pour samples of a recent arrival especially suited to snowy weather. It’s a rich red made from sagrantino ($28.60), a grape native to Umbria, in central Italy, and rarely grown elsewhere. Sagrantino is one of the most tannic varietals. If you like bitter dark chocolate and espresso—and especially espresso beans covered in bitter dark chocolate—here is your wine. This bottling is a youthful expression of the grape, dry, smooth, and sophisticated, with flavors of dried cherries and cayenne pepper.

We hope to see you there!

What’s in Your Flowercup? Stock Up before We Hibernate

Dear Local Customers,

Flowercup Wine will be closed Jan. 1–4 and will reopen on Friday, Jan. 5. You have only a few days to stock up before then.

New Year’s Eve: Bring in the New Year in Style!

If you haven’t yet picked up sparkling wine with which to bid adieu to 2023, we’re ready to help.

We have Champagnes ranging from under $60 to over $250 by artisanal producers, as well as other popular bubblies like proseccos, cavas, crémants, and pét-nats. There are sparkling rosé options too.

Join us tonight, Friday, Dec. 29, as we get a head start on toasting the New Year. We’ll have a few of our favorite sparklers open for tasting from 4:00 to 7:00. We hope to see you there!

Parking for Your Convenience

Good news: the village has restored the fifteen-minute parking spots on the northeast corners of intersections in the Main Street business district. There’s one in front of Flowercup Wine. People have been wonderful about respecting the time limit, which means that the spots free up constantly. So don’t let parking get between you and delicious wine.

Nothing Provides Winter Cheer Like Port

Ruby port wine combines lip-smacking sweetness with flavors of spice, cocoa, and macerated cherries, while tawny port, which has oxidized during aging, is lighter, drier, and tinged with notes of figs, toasted almonds, and cinnamon. In other words, port is just what you want when you come in from sledding. Our selection ranges from stocking-size bottles ($16.50–$58.20) to full (750 mL) size ($22.00–119.50).

Expanding Our Collectors’ Selection

This fall we worked on expanding our stock of special back-vintage bottles and rare gifts. The shop now offers exceptional vintages of Champagne ($77.00–$269.70), Barolo ($56.50–$136.50), Bordeaux ($58.00–$167.10), Burgundy ($56.30–$110.40), Brunello ($46.50–$92.00), Rhône wines ($55.50–$155.60), and a classic from Rioja ($69.30), from small producers who have been making wine the same way for centuries. We also stock off-the-beaten-path treasures like an assyrtiko from the best producer on Santorini Island ($78.70), aged skin-contact whites from a cult producer on the Slovenian-Italian border ($50.70-$52.00), and a spätlese riesling from a premier German grower ($64.00). Also, if you need an impressive gift for someone who has everything, consider a magnum (double-size bottle) of Burgundy, Sancerre, Champagne, or sake ($103.70-$226.90).

JOIN US FOR FRIDAY NIGHT TASTINGS.

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Every Friday evening we open two or three bottles for tasting. Last week, for instance, we featured dessert wines, including a dry, hazelnut-tinged Amontillado sherry ($35.00), which drinks like whisky but with less alcohol; a late-bottled-vintage ruby port from 2016 ($16.50 / 375 mL), which reminds us of liquor-infused chocolate-covered cherries and comes in a cute, half-size bottle perfect for stuffing in stockings; and a Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise ($36.80), an unusual southern French treat that tastes like flower-scented citrus candy and would pair magnificently with a cheese plate or vanilla ice cream.

Tonight (12/15) we will open a gorgeous crémant from Jura ($30.20), which gives Champagne a run for the money, and a sophisticated Margaux ($39.60), a blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot from the left bank of Bordeaux. We hope to see you tonight starting at 4:00 to taste these special bottlings.
