We are glad to announce that we will now be collecting socks for The Wool Gathering Project!

The project began in 2014 after two friends heard about the great need of warm socks for those living without heat or homes. It’s evolved into a community-based ongoing effort based on the reality that socks are the most requested item in the shelter system. Thousands of pairs of socks and other warm items have been gathered for women, men and children who are housing insecure.

You can now drop off any gently used or new socks to us at the store and The Wool Gathering Project will make sure they get to the members of our community who need them 🧦♥️🦩

16th: Improve your health and immune system by crafting your own fire cider with Innertwine Herbs!

23rd: Grow green with Meraki Urban Farm by learning to grow your very own microgreens at home!

24th: Join us for an evening of fun and community at our Eco Friends Community Social with guest speaker Katherine Tellock, business development manager at Green Era Chicago! She will be talking about how Green Era is creating a circular economy using anaerobic digestion to divert food waste from landfills, create renewable energy to heat Chicago homes, produce nutrient-rich compost for local food production, and provide new green jobs for local residents!

30th: Save your clothes from the landfill through visible mending with BLISS JOY BULL Upcycled Goods + Clothing Repair!

Join us this Sunday for our Flamingo Friends Community Social! This month we’ll be learning about the work that Police District Councils are doing with the Chicago Police to help with mental health crises from Jennifer Schaffer, a Police District Council member for the 19th district (ours).

What do police district council members do?

-Build stronger connections between the police and the community at the district level
-Help develop and implement new safety initiatives
-Nominate members of the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability

Today for Giving Tuesday we’re donating 10% of the day’s sales to a truly wonderful organization, our neighbors down the street ♥️ So if you planned to shop with us this week, today is the day to do it!

The Friendship Center supports Chicago’s northwest side neighborhoods by providing budget relief in the form of free, healthful groceries, serving over 4,500 neighbors facing hunger each month.

They also accept in-kind food donations and volunteers for anyone interested in serving their community through an organization that does genuinely good work.

December 4th learn how to repair your sweaters and knit items in the Intro to Darning workshop with the always wonderful 🪡

December 5th create your own winter wreath with the fabulous 💐

December 7th is Waters Elementary day! 10% of our sales will be donated to Waters to help fund their programming ♥️

December 12th upcycle fabric and other materials to create gorgeous decorative holiday trees with the incredibly creative 🌲

December 15th join us for our monthly Eco Friends Community social! The event will have broken light drop off, zero waste holiday alternatives and information on composting.
