Terroir-Driven Tequila:
Tequila Ocho! π²π½8οΈβ£π²π½8οΈβ£
Much like wine is based upon terroir, the land of which the fruits are harvested, tequila is the same way, however many brands blend agave from all of Jalisco, Mexico. Carlos Camarena, famed master distiller behind brands like El Tesoro and Tequila Tapatio, is also at the helm of Tequila Ocho, and he understands why single terroir driven agave is so pivitol to the final product.
Camarena is one of the most respected names in all of tequila-making, with his brother Felipe, the owner of El Pandillo Distillery, which produces award-winning tequilas like G4, Volans, Terralta, and ArteNOM. Each brand harvested under the Camarena name is certain to be of the utmost quality and craftsmanship.
Tequila Ocho is no exception. It is confirmed-additive free, using only agave, water, and natural airborne yeast, and the brand is one of the few left producing tequila in a slow, oven-roasted artisinal style, a commendable action in an industry which normally seeks to maximize speed and profits.
Carlos Camarena only harvests over-ripened agave, from one single field during the same season, ensuring full flavor, maturity, and consistency. With each harvest affected by different climate and growing conditions, it allows distinctive qualities to form in each batch.
The 2023 release of Tequila Ocho Reposado has been aged for 2-months in ex-Amerixan whiskey barrels and features aromas of agave, rich fruit, vanilla and butterscotch, alongside notes of plum, white pepper, toffee, crème brûlée, and almonds on the palate.
Boasting ratings of near 90+ on Tequila Matchmaker by critics and drinkers alike, Tequila Ocho impresses both on paper and on the lips. Carlos Camarenas is a third-generation tequiliero and is extremely proud to showcase the best of his country's flagship spirit. He's surrounded by a slew of corporations and competitors who have sold out to celebrity ownership and explotation, yet the Camaerna-family standard has never changed.
