Reata Three County Pinot Noir is a spectacular and exuberant Pinot Noir to join our selection. The grapes are harvested from vineyards in three counties and merged together to create a full bodied yet elegant style. 50% are from Sonoma to impart elegance, 30% from Monterey for a silky texture and 20% from San Benito for a luscious structure and balance. Notes of red fruits; cherries and plums are interwoven with soft tannins. Introduce yourself to this beauty this weekend!

Villa Campobello Chianti from Tuscany has a bright ruby hue in its color and bright cherry notes in its flavor profile to match. This Sangiovese and Canaiolo blend is a traditional rendering of the region’s mainstay wine. The flavors are very lively in this medium bodied red and the aroma lends to hints of violets. Enjoy with pasta with red sauce, chicken or veal dishes. A great value as an everyday house wine!

Terrazas Malbec Altos is one of our newest finds. The high altitude of these vineyards lends to a wine that is full of fresh and vibrant fruit. It has well defined flavors of raspberries, blackberries and white pepper and is very well balanced. It is a great accompaniment to grilled or cured meats and sharp cheeses. It also happens to be Certified Sustainable farming and Vegan friendly! Enjoy!

Reverdy Sauvignon Blanc is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley. Reverdy has long been renowned as a top Sancerre producer. While only 75 % of this wine comes from the Sancerre district, the other 25 % is sourced from a family owned property outside of Sancerre proper. This classic white is bright and crisp with delicate citrus notes of lemongrass and mineral. Enjoy this on its own or pair it with shellfish (shrimp or oysters come to mind), Chicken Francaise or light, creamy pasta dishes! This wine really gives “true” Sancerre a run for the money.

Riporta Primitivo, Puglia, Italy. Primitivo is Grandpa's wine. It's always earthy, rarely too tannic, but richly flavored and aromatic. Usually a little funk (earthy, mush-roomy). This is softer than it is acidic with some boldness that will pair well with a garlicky dish; any red sauce, or pepperoni or sausage pizza. It's a favorite grape of ours. Get it to 65 degrees, and have it with a snack or a meal. It does best when sipped between chews.!

Duck Pond Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon. This light Pinot Noir is layered with a long finish, and mild acidity. There are lingering fruit notes (thus, the finish) of spices and red berries. It’s a traditional Oregon Pinot that you can enjoy with anything, including big seafood dishes (roast/baked salmon, particularly), poultry, red meat, and lighter pasta dishes.

Fall Wine Classes
We’re going Old World for our fall class schedule! These classes look at three classic European wine regions, allowing for a close look at what some of the world’s best wines have to offer. The lineup includes:

Tuesday, September 17: Tuscany
Sangiovese is the classic grape of Tuscany and this class explores four expressions of this savory red grape, including Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino. We’ll also take a taste of two of the region’s under-appreciated white grapes for a full survey of what this region has to offer.

Tuesday, October 15: Piedmont
While Barolo and Barbaresco – wines crafted with the region’s famed Nebbiolo grape – get all the attention, Piedmont also makes delicious red and white wines from lesser-known varietals. This class runs the gamut from easy, breezy Arneis to big, robust Barolo and everything in between.

Tuesday, November 12: Bordeaux
This is arguably the ne plus ultra of wine regions – the best of the best. This class features wines from six appellations, including Graves, Pauillac and St. Emilion, for an overview of what makes Bordeaux wines so good.

Led by wine concierge and author Kathleen Bershad, these classes are lively and interactive, appealing to the novice and connoisseur alike.

The class takes place from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at Chappaqua Wine & Spirits, 65 King Street. The fee is $50 per session. In addition, participants receive a discount towards the purchase of wines tasted in the class. Seating is limited. To reserve a seat, just come by the store or call us at 914-238-3114.

Everyone knows the Beaujolais Nouveau that arrives the third Thursday of November every year, but truth be told, the Beaujolais that are with us throughout the rest of the year are delicious values. They are comprised of Gamay grapes; bright purple in color, fruitful and low in tannins. The perfect equation for a fun wine. Because of their reputation for being drunk in a casual mode, they are one of the few reds that are fashionably acceptable to drink slightly chilled and perfect for the summer months. Beaujolais Villages and the ten premium towns, known as Crus, are full of life and refreshing. These ten towns are given the privilege of carrying their name on the label. This Brouilly (pronounced: brew-yee) has delicate notes of cherry and a hint of violets in its bouquet. These Cru Beaujolais are the best of the region and meant to be consumed with friends in a very relaxed and fun ambiance. Take some home and enjoy!

Pilandro Lugana, Lombardy, Italy. The grape – Trebbiano. There’s a slight minerality about this, and on the nose you’ll detect peach, apple, pear and maybe a little honey or pineapple (if you really concentrate). Pasta with cream sauce or pasta with vegetables pairs well with it, as does shellfish. You’ll also appreciate it with mature and hard cheeses, and again, the antipasto. Slightly acidic and fruity, you’ll appreciate the complexity of this wine as soon as you pop the cork.

Les Roches Blanches, Vouvray. Loire Valley, France. The grape, Chenin Blanc, is known for its high acidity making it the perfect grape for sparkling wines, or dessert wines, or blending.
BUT, it’s certainly finicky – too hot in the growing season, or too wet, the success of the wine is entirely dependent upon the taste buds of the vigneron. This Vouvray is a lighter, drier style and will pair ideally with light dishes, so think salad, fish, and chicken. A sweeter Vouvray would do well with Thai, and spicy Asian dishes among others. Enjoy this beautiful and refreshing white this summer!

SPRING Wine Classes
There’s something for everyone in our spring class schedule, from six takes on a classic varietal to what to drink when you don’t like the popular choices! The schedule includes:

Wednesday, June 12: Anything but…
In wine lingo, ABC refers to “Anything But Chardonnay” a reaction to people’s dislike of the oaky, butter version of this wine. But what if you really don’t like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon or any other popular varietal? This class allows you to taste six superb alternatives while expanding your wine palate and knowledge.

Tuesday, June 25: One Grape Six Ways: Syrah
Think all Syrah tastes the same? Think again! This class takes the classic grape and shows, through six wines, how the effects of climate, terroir and the winemaking process impact the flavors and aromas in the glass.

These sessions are designed to appeal to the novice and connoisseur alike. Led by wine concierge and author Kathleen Bershad, the classes are lively and interactive.

The class takes place from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at Chappaqua Wine & Spirits, 65 King Street. The fee is $50 per session.
In addition, participants receive a discount towards the purchase of wines tasted in the class.

Tokoeka Sauvignon Blanc is a Sauvignon from the Marlboro district of New Zealand. It is the epitome of the New Zealand style with its expressive notes of grapefruit and lemon-zest and undertones of melon and mango. Its crisp texture makes this a great choice for pairing with salads, grilled vegetables or fish, and, of course with oysters and clams on the half shell. This is a great choice as a precursor to your Easter meal, as well. The rich flavors of this wine make it perfect as an aperitif and will accompany so many of your side dishes. This wine is delicious!

AND.... For those celebrating Passover, come on in for some of our various wines for your Seder! We have a full array from around the world!
