The Wine House might be closed but you can continue to follow us at Wineworks Inc.! Ron opened his own wine distribution 8 years ago and is still selling his boutique wines into other local retailers and restaurants in the corridor. Many of his wines have been Wine House favorites over the years! If you want to follow, hit a "like" and learn about where your favorite wines are now as well as local wine events happening in the area! We are all about supporting our LOCAL friends in wine!

As we turn the key to open the Wine House for the last time this morning, I must acknowledge the two people that stood with us as we turned the key to open the same door 22 years ago. My mom and dad. They saw the potential in this grand old dilapidated lady, stood by us every minute to help make our dreams a reality and shared our vision from the very beginning.
My dad built the deck which housed thousands of people for wine tastings, he built stage and “WINE” sign which was home to countless musicians over the years. He built the arbor engulfed with grapevines and wisteria, welcoming the many who entered. He mowed, weeded, trimmed, shoveled, put up and tore down tents and tables for events and carried countless cases of wine from the basement to stock shelves for all to enjoy.
He let me boss him without any push back.
My mom never imagined 20 years ago when I asked her to make 1, just 1 basket for a charity donation, that she would make a long lasting business from it. Taylor-Made Gift Solutions was born shortly thereafter. Over the years she has had quite run inside the Wine House making gift baskets for thousands of customers and outside the Wine House for corporate clients all over town. She also made my shop look gorgeous with her endless seasonal displays and creative work allowing me to welcome everyone easily. Over the years she also wallpapered, stripped wallpaper, painted and hauled countless loads of gifts two and three flights of stairs rarely asking for help. She is the reason the shop always looked so pretty.
She wasn’t as easy to boss around😊
There is no way we could have done any of this without them. NO WAY. More than any thanks Ron and I have gotten, they deserve more. They were the foundation of our success. So THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!!!! Here’s to a new life with you away from it all. Just us and our new adventures together.
As we sign off for the last time, we must thank ALL of you. Our customers who have become friends, you kept us lifted for success all of these years. To the many volunteers who helped with countless events, holiday hours and filling in allowing me time away. Thank YOU!
Our only hope is that you will continue to support the other local shops in our community for your wine and gift buying. Small business is the backbone of our community. Cheers and we will see you around!

It has been said, “All good things must come to an end.” This certainly applies to the adventure we have had with the 1st Avenue Wine House. Many of you might be asking “why” and our answer is that after nearly twenty wonderful years in business, we have decided now is the time to explore the next chapter of our lives and we could not be more excited. Please know this is not a decision we HAVE to make rather a decision we are READY to make.

It has been a great joy to serve this community and in return, we sincerely appreciate the support we have received from our customers. Our success is because of you. We thank each and every one of you!

Jean Perrier Cremant de Savoie Bubbles, France
Who doesn’t love to start any gathering with an aperitif in the form of bubbles! I know I do and will be this Sunday. I LOVE bubbles and bubbles from the Cremant regions of France are lovely and not as expensive as champagne. This particular wine is light overall but the fine bubbles coat the mouth with a lovely mix of fruit and floral flavors, with sweet, ripe pear standing out.

Barnard Griffin Riesling, Columbia Valley, WA
It is hard to resist the intense and vibrant flavors of peach, orange peel, apricot and apple found in this lovely Riesling. Crisp and refreshing with a cleansing finish. I love this wine because it is off dry yet not too dry and is incredibly food and people friendly.

William Knuttle Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley, Sonoma
Bill Knuttle has been making wine for some of the most well known wineries in Sonoma for over 30 years. I love selling his own brand because they are delish and affordable! This Sauvignon Blanc delivers a great balance between old and new world styles. A classic Sancerre-like minerality anchors a complex array of aromas, where peach, pear and tropical fruits mingle with herbs and grassiness. The palate is light and crisp, adding flavors of spicy grapefruit, tangerine and lemon zest. The wine’s balance, elegance and intensity beg another sip…over and over again!

Most of you know how fond I am of the Pozzan family. Matt Pozzan has even been to the shop twice in past years! I chose his Chardonnay for this Easter because it is an everyday price point with quality. I like this Chardonnay because it balances flavors of juicy Asian pear, toasted almonds, and crème caramel, balanced with a fresh acidity that compliments the weighty mouthfeel and oak. It is a winner for ALL Chardonnay drinkers!

Perrachon “Amour” Gamay, Beaujolais, France
Gamay is a varietal that is so underrated in this area. One of my favorite cross-sells with customers is to sell it to Pinot Noir drinkers and almost every time they come back for more! This is a wine I have featured before at Thanksgiving, and I can’t help but feature it again for Easter. Gamay is delicate but at the same time expresses beautiful berry flavors with a nice balance of fruit and tannin.

Bennett Valley Pinot Noir, Sonoma, CA
While this wine is a little bit of a splurge in price, I chose it because my Pinot Noir customers LOVE it and why not! It is Easter! This Pinot is deep garnet in color and has a brilliant clarity. The fruits aromas, are distinctly of violets along with some blackberry, allspice and vanilla notes. On the palate, the same dark fruits mingle with flavors of pomegranate and mocha. Soft acidity allows the fruit characters to shine through, while the soft tannins linger on the palate.

PURPLE REIGN UPDATE:

From our friends at Purple Reign USA. I am not hopeful this will be in our hands before the holidays but am hopeful it will be shortly thereafter.

Hey Traci,

It took us 5 months to find a ship, and we have just got one. It will arrive in USA December 16th, but it takes a while to get it into distribution after unloading.
Sorry about the wait, but was nothing we could do about it.
Hopefully the supply issues resolve soon, as we would love our wine all over the USA !
