UPDATE-Tuesday, January 21 (4PM)

Weather Update: Regular Operations Resume Jan. 22

Carrizo Springs CISD Staff and Families,

After consulting with local weather agencies, emergency management officials, and neighboring districts, we have determined that the forecast for the rest of the week does not pose safety concerns related to ice or freezing conditions at this time.

Carrizo Springs CISD will continue with a regular school schedule for the rest of the week.

We encourage students to dress in layers for added warmth and as the temperatures warm during the day. For added comfort, sweatpants, joggers, and flannel pajama pants will be allowed during these days.

We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely. Thank you for your support as we prioritize the safety of our Carrizo Springs CISD students and staff when making decisions. Our principals and teachers have special learning activities planned. Attendance matters for student success, so please make every effort to bring your children to school. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow.

Stay warm, CSCISD

Freeze Warning in effect tonight through 11 AM tomorrow morning. Temperatures are expected to dip down to the upper teens and low/mid-20s across South TX late tonight through tomorrow morning. Temperatures will likely climb to the upper 40s and low 50s after 12 noon tomorrow. Drive safely during your morning commute. Icy roads still possible due to re-freezing of already wet roads.

**WEATHER UPDATE**

To our patients, due to the winter weather expected in our area below are the hours of operation for the following DRH clinics on Tuesday 1/21/25.

WINTER STORM DEVELOPING! What to expect tonight and tomorrow at a glance.

“TOTALS” TRENDING DOWN: Accumulation totals do not look quite as impressive as previously thought. A longer period of freezing rain and sleet will likely keep places from getting “historic” snowfall totals. Hey but don’t get caught up on the numbers. Bridges and roads will become very dangerous to travel on in the highlighted areas by sunrise tomorrow. Another refreeze tomorrow night will maintain hazardous travel conditions into Wednesday. Slick bridges/roads are possible even as far south as Laredo, McAllen and other parts of the RGV.

CSCISD campus and offices will be closed TUESDAY, JANUARY 21 due to expected inclement weather.

If you haven’t covered your exterior faucets/pipes, today is the day to do so. Also, cover any cold-sensitive plants. Wintry precipitation is expected across a large swath of the region. Start making plans on how you will care for your outdoor pets (pets should be brought inside during the coldest times). Do prepare for an outage. Frozen tree limbs can fall on electrical lines, causing temporary power outages. Lastly, check on vulnerable people, especially if there is an outage.

Drive safely/cautiously from Monday night through Wednesday morning. Some roads may be slippery.

01/19/2025

TxDOT continues to pretreat roads ahead of potential freezing temperatures in much of the state. Please use caution and give our crews space to work safely.

01/19/2025

The County Judge and Emergency Management Coordinator are staying up to date with weather forecast and Emergency Management Directors regarding any closures. Warming shelter is also being planned for anyone that may have a need.
