In 1948, two-year-old Greg Meeh moved with his parents (back-to-the-land Quakers) to a rundown Shaker house in Canterbury, New Hampshire. There, Greg learned about farming, cows, and how to build and grow anything. His college years at the University of New Hampshire led him to a career as an award-winning special effects designer in New York City (Jauchem & Meeh Special Effects). But after 30+ ye
ars working on Broadway, he decided it was time to return to his home-place for a new challenge - a distillery to be built in the barn of his childhood home. One that would produce exquisite spirits from locally-sourced fruits and grains. With the addition of a gorgeous custom-built Austrian still, Greg turned his barn into Cold Garden Spirits (a name borrowed from his wife's local food website, Cold Garden Warm Kitchen) In the summer of 2016, Greg began producing his first batches of corn whiskey and fruit eau de vie. The only place you can taste and purchase Cold Garden's corn whiskey and fruit eau de vie is on-site, but that's the way of things rare and regional, right? Still, if you need a little additional motivation, we are 1/8 mile from Canterbury Shaker Village and 1.5 miles from New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Canterbury Aleworks.
