Learned this drink from a customer yesterday who bought most of her ingredients at Papa Lou’s! The Hotel Georgia-

2 parts Gin
1 part Orgeat
½ part Lemon juice
1 part Egg white
10 dashes Orange flower water

Dry shake all ingredients without ice for 15 seconds, then add ice and shake again. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or coupé, and garnish with an orange twist.

Grate fresh nutmeg on top to finish. Cheers!

Uncle Nearest, born Nathan “Nearest” Green, was an enslaved man who became the first known African American master distiller, teaching Jack Daniel the art of whiskey-making in the mid-1800s. His legacy, long overshadowed, was rediscovered in recent years, and his contributions are now honored through the Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey brand. The book, Love & Whiskey by Fawn Weaver tells the amazing story of the friendship of Uncle Nearest and Jack Daniel and how & why she created the distillery. Recently, my brother from Papa Lou’s Wine & Spirits had the opportunity to tour the Uncle Nearest distillery, exploring the rich history and craftsmanship behind the brand.
