If you've ever said, I'll do that when hell freezes over".....You're scheduled to do that today."

The morning got away from me, so this is late getting to you.....However, I'm of the opinion that most of you are looking out your window at the pretty snow and delighted that you don't have to venture out into it!!!

The Deli is closed today....and if the weathermen continue to be correct in their reporting, tomorrow will be beyond cold and roads icy. Stay tuned.

Good morning....

"Hope springs eternal" for an early Spring; but then, it runs head-on into 38 degrees. Weather people are so funny...not. The description of "breezy" to describe gale force winds and "chilly" to denote the temperature is not helpful. Winter is for polar bears!

You never know what you have 'til you clean house."

On that note, Friends, I have put away the Christmas decorations....I need two more totes for the garland; "living" in large plastic bags in the garage for a year won't do it any good. Did I say, "too much stuff"?

Though packing up and moving from holiday to "normal" is a good thing, the deli looks so empty! Home does too, though the decorations were more modest.

So it's back to normal: Wednesday through Saturday, 10:30 am to 2:00 pm. Juggling the holiday schedule was confusing....I couldn't remember what day it was!

Hope your Christmas time was wonderful and filled with family, friends, good food and lots of hugs and love.

We welcomed 2025 quietly...if you don't count the fireworks in the neighborhood! Actually, they were scattered and short-lived.

'Course we had peas and greens on NY day; but in case y'all missed that, I have Blackeyed Peas and Greens Soup today. I'm trying to make sure y'all have a good year!!

And just like that, the music stopped!! Christmas music. Before the Thanksgiving turkey is roasted, the Christmas music starts and rolls on 'til THE DAY. Then, with whiplash-like abruptness, it's over. Makes one want to take to one's bed.

Hope your holiday was wonderful! Vicki went to her Dad's with lunch and gifts. I baked a little, read my new cookbook (y'all know I love pretty cookbooks!!), and generally had a lazy day.

So....the menu for Friday and Saturday:

Sweets: Brownies w/Walnuts (though I expect y'all have had your fill of sweets!)

Not too involved and our schedule will be the same for New Year's week...closed Wednesday and Thursday; open Friday and Saturday.

Have a safe NY's Eve....eat lots of black-eyed peas and greens on NY's Day for good fortune for the coming year.

We are open this week as usual...Wednesday through Saturday 10:30 am - 2:00 pm.

Christmas week we will be closed Christmas Day, Wednesday, 25th and Thursday, 26th. We will be open Friday, 27th and Saturday, 28th 10:30 am -2:00 pm.

(Christmas Soup is so called because it's a hearty, warming soup to offset the frigid holiday weather. However this is GA and the temp is a bit higher. It's still good soup!!)

Am I getting older, or is the supermarket finally playing great music?

Good Morning....

Well, it's 14 years and 3 days! Happy anniversary and then some to the Deli. Nice group on Sunday at the open house....wish all of you had come to help us celebrate.......now that would have been a house full!

Friend, Laurie Ann, decorated the Deli for me while I spent the time with my family. Looks very festive! Christmas everywhere! It's her new business and I love to support women's small businesses.

Thanksgiving week was wonderful! Laughter abounded. Lots of music (three musicians in the house! With guitars!). And, of course, food. My favorite holiday.

Son, David, played my "concert" Friday evening. He teaches music and has sooooo many songs stored to memory. It's a bit like "name that tune." I say it and he plays it!!

Back to business.....

Good Morning.....

Well. Have you ever been outsmarted by a shiny new cabinet door hinge? Or maybe it's the MAKERS of said hinge. Taking my bathroom to new levels of squeaky clean....walls, mirrors, shower, floor....vanity cabinet! Cleaned it. Covered scratches with Old English. Waxed it.

Looks great. Hardware was drab by comparison. Got a new set in a bronze finish. Looks so good against that polished wood!

However (saw that one coming, I bet!). The new hinges are a "shade" larger than the old ones......pushing the doors closer to the center and preventing them from closing!!!

I own a drill. Know how to use it. But there are no second chances with the vanity. So I have called in reinforcements. "Never say die" is only valid when a picture hung in the right place covers the mishap!!
