We are open this week as usual...Wednesday through Saturday 10:30 am - 2:00 pm.

Christmas week we will be closed Christmas Day, Wednesday, 25th and Thursday, 26th. We will be open Friday, 27th and Saturday, 28th 10:30 am -2:00 pm.

Am I getting older, or is the supermarket finally playing great music?

Good Morning....

Well, it's 14 years and 3 days! Happy anniversary and then some to the Deli. Nice group on Sunday at the open house....wish all of you had come to help us celebrate.......now that would have been a house full!

Friend, Laurie Ann, decorated the Deli for me while I spent the time with my family. Looks very festive! Christmas everywhere! It's her new business and I love to support women's small businesses.

Thanksgiving week was wonderful! Laughter abounded. Lots of music (three musicians in the house! With guitars!). And, of course, food. My favorite holiday.

Son, David, played my "concert" Friday evening. He teaches music and has sooooo many songs stored to memory. It's a bit like "name that tune." I say it and he plays it!!

Back to business.....

Good Morning.....

Well. Have you ever been outsmarted by a shiny new cabinet door hinge? Or maybe it's the MAKERS of said hinge. Taking my bathroom to new levels of squeaky clean....walls, mirrors, shower, floor....vanity cabinet! Cleaned it. Covered scratches with Old English. Waxed it.

Looks great. Hardware was drab by comparison. Got a new set in a bronze finish. Looks so good against that polished wood!

However (saw that one coming, I bet!). The new hinges are a "shade" larger than the old ones......pushing the doors closer to the center and preventing them from closing!!!

I own a drill. Know how to use it. But there are no second chances with the vanity. So I have called in reinforcements. "Never say die" is only valid when a picture hung in the right place covers the mishap!!

The Fair cometh this week!!

Good Morning...

After Helene blew through to our right, only drenching us, she "rained" havoc on everything else she crossed. The pictures are heartbreaking.

While we didn't lose power...thanks be....we did lose phone and internet. So calls went unanswered and for those who came in, no credit cards. About closing time, Saturday, it came back on line. Of course!!!

Very minor glitch.

Good morning...

Hope y'all made it through with little disruption. I heard a loud "thump" last night and was unable to see what caused it. Light of day.....

However, in anticipation of Helene, we under purchased and under prepped.....we've lost product on a grand scale with other hurricanes...we'll need time to be starting over at the Deli.

So, The Deli will be closed today...Friday...and we'll open with a full menu on Saturday at 10:30 am.

Get ready for Helene....predicted 75 MPH wind is a serious breeze!! In times past, we've lost power at the Deli during windy conditions. So....we're on alert for that to happen again. Stay tuned!!

This is for my dear, sweet, red-headed friend.....

Good morning....

Well, football is back.....yea! I even got to see Washington play (I was about to write "Redskins" as old habits die hard!) and that hardly ever happens. Sunday afternoons, Monday nights, Thursdays.....gracious goodness!

Enjoy our "fake" Fall, as a friend put it, while it lasts. We know late Summer will return to scorch us one last time before the heat leaves for the year. The cool mornings have been a treat.

So...burned out another griddle and threatened another with death by panini!! So...got a commercial one. I would have gotten it sooner...14 years ago?....but I only knew about the type that takes up the back of a small pickup truck....BIG in other words!

This one is actually not too much bigger than the aforementioned burned out one. Friend, Austin, did the heavy lifting and we fired it up and wiped away the protective wax as it melted off. It's ready to go to work!

So we're going to have a couple of additional grilled sandwiches for specials this week: The Smoke Stack and The Turkey Artichoke and a fancy grilled cheese. Order up!!

Good morning....

These lovely cool early mornings have been a real treat after our Summer. Some more "hot" is to be expected, but the break in temp is welcome.

So. We hosted a bridal shower at the Deli on Sunday. Don't do much of that anymore because we have so much shopping and prep for the normal week, but the hostess is a lovely special person to us and the bride to be is special to her. Had to be.

Good Morning.....

I submit for consideration that the high cost of living is, if not corporate greed, an attitude that says, let's see how long we can get away with this!! Nooooo, it's corporate greed.

I speak from first hand knowledge having grocery shopped over the weekend!! I consistently purchase certain items to prepare what is on the Deli menu, so I notice when the price inches up from one week to the next. I understand that when products were hard to come by, prices reflected that. The products are no longer sitting on container ships waiting to be unloaded. Now it's just greed.

Happier note: gas prices are down. AND football starts Thursday night!!! Chiefs v. Ravens. Yea!!

The Deli was a happenin' place last week. Lots of new faces.
