Jd streett would like to thank Mike and Roxanne Howald for all their hard work and dedication over the years at short stop! Mike dedicated his blood,sweat and tears in building a fabulous community business and we are honored to continue the legacy he has created! We have worked with them foe years by supplying their fuel. We want to let the community know that we will strive to carry on as we are a 4th generation family owned business.

On Wednesday September 11th we plan to open back up at 12pm. We will update as the day goes on to insure we have a smooth opening with new registers and equipment.

Mike doesn’t do Facebook so I’m hoping this will be somewhat of a surprise but we will be at Short Stop tomorrow from 5:30 on to eat pizza @ say goodbye to the business. If you were a past employee, a customer or just want to wish him well, please stop in. Please share & let’s do what we do in this town & give him a proper send off!

On Tuesday September 10th we will be changing over to new systems. The store will be open from 5 am to 9 am that day and closing after 9 am. Also please note with the new registers we are required to ID and scan everyone (regardless if we know you or your age) or we are not able to sell alcohol, to***co or lottery products to you if you don't have it available. Please keep an eye out on here for future post regarding reopening time. Thank you to all of you for your support !! We appreciate each and everyone of you as we go through our change!

It is with a mix of excitement, relief, sadness, and nostalgia that we formally announce the sale of our business, Bunker Hill Short Stop, effective Tuesday, September 10, 2024
We, along with Robert and Carol Howald, purchased Bunker Hill Zephyr from Bill Goebel in 1985 and created Short Stop in the fall of that year. This May would have been 40 years Short Stop has been a part of the community.
The sale will include the building formerly known as ITCO as well as Bunker Hill Self Storage. The buyers, JD Street & Company (https://www.jdstreett.com/), are a family-owned and operated business based in St. Louis, Missouri. They are not strangers to us as they have been our fuel distributor from the beginning. They are very familiar with our history, our daily operations, as well as our staff. Although we are sure there will be changes going forward, they have always been interested in our operation and impressed with how the community supports the business. We are hopeful they will build on what is working and provide improvements that will ultimately benefit the town and staff.
It has been our honor and our privilege to serve the community for almost 40 years. We are incredibly grateful for the loyalty, support, and, at times, the patience and grace our patrons have shown in helping us grow . We have often said that Short Stop has, in many ways, been owned by the community as it has been the people of Bunker Hill who have guided our decisions in providing the products and services specific to their needs. So, in time, it has become a reflection of our town and the people who are lucky enough to live here. We will miss that connection and again, are so thankful for everyone's support and patronage.
And finally, we encourage everyone to extend the same support, kindness and grace to JD Street & Company that you have provided us through the years. As with change, it will take time to settle into something new. We are hopeful and encouraged that Short Stop will continue to be an asset to the community in the future.
