Wine Wednesday: Schiavenza Dolcetto d’Alba
Happy Wine Wednesday, everyone! 🍷
This week, we’re highlighting the Schiavenza Dolcetto d’Alba, a stunning example of Italian winemaking. This vibrant red wine comes from the picturesque hills of Piedmont, where tradition and exceptional terroir unite.
🍇 Tasting Notes:
Rich and fruity with flavors of black cherries, violets, and a touch of spice. Its velvety texture and balanced acidity make it equally delightful for pairing with food or enjoying on its own.
🍴 Perfect Pairings:
Pair it with fresh pasta, hearty risottos, or a simple charcuterie board for a meal to remember.
About Schiavenza:
Located in Serralunga d’Alba, the heart of Piedmont’s Langhe district, Schiavenza was founded in 1956 by brothers Vittorio and Ugo Alessandria. The name “Schiavenza” comes from the local dialect for sharecropping, reflecting the estate’s agricultural roots. Today, it’s run by the second-generation Alessandria sisters, Enrica and Maura, alongside their husbands, Luciano Pira and Walter Anselma.
Sustainable Winemaking:
Schiavenza practices organic farming, using no pesticides or herbicides. Cover crops like clover and mustard greens maintain vineyard balance and naturally limit yields. Harvesting is done manually, guided by lunar phases. In the cellar, only native yeasts are used for fermentation, which takes place in cement cisterns with 20–25 days of maceration. The wines are then aged in traditional large Slavonian oak casks (botti), allowing their character to fully develop.
Sourced from 2.2 hectares of vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba, at elevations of 370–400m, the estate’s vines range from plantings as old as 1965 to as recent as 2006.
Why You’ll Love It:
The Dolcetto d’Alba is a perfect fall wine—rich, comforting, and versatile. Stop by the shop or visit our website to discover this lovely bottle for yourself!

Wine Wednesday! Birichino Malvasia Bianca 🌞
Wine Wednesday
Happy Wine Wednesday everyone! This week we’re chatting about one of my favorite aromatic white wines from California. Birichino Malvasia Bianca.
Birichino Malvasia Bianca, a perfect balance of perfume and poise, crafted with care by Alex Krause and John Locke. Founded in Santa Cruz in 2008, Birichino draws on their four decades of experience making wine in California, France, Italy, and beyond. 🍇✨
Sourced from the sandy shale soils of Loma del Rio on the western flank of the Santa Lucia Range in Monterey, this wine showcases fruit from family-owned, own-rooted 19th and early 20th century vineyards. 🌞🍷
Using nighttime machine harvests and 12-14 hours of skin-maceration, the aromatic potential is maximized. Fermented low and slow in stainless steel, then rested on its fine lees for 4-5 months.
This wine has a delightful blend of floral elegance and zesty freshness. 🍋✨ This crisp white wine brings bright citrus notes, fragrant jasmine, and a hint of tropical fruit, making it the perfect companion for sunny afternoons and light meals. 🌞🍷 #Birichino #MalvasiaBianca #WhiteWine #WineLovers #CrispAndBright #SantaCruzWines #HandcraftedWine #WineLovers #MontereyWines"
