We wanted to give a HUGE shout-out to Chuck Murphy and his crew at PMS Pavement Maintenance Services of Salida Colorado. Last week they completely repaved and resurfaced our parking lot and gas lanes at the Centerville Sugar Shack. For a small Mom and Pop business like ours, this is a pretty significant investment and we were in good hands with Chuck. He completed the job in under 2 days with minimal interruption to our business, and his crew were professional and careful about not tracking newly laid asphalt into our store. We knew we wanted to spend our capital improvements budget locally so really we had decided on Chuck before we even got his bid (which by the way was very reasonable). We spent locally, supported another local business, and are totally pleased. If you need paving work done, Chuck is your man! THANK YOU! WE LOVE OUR NEW PARKING LOT!

Here at the Centerville Sugar Shack we carry 70/30 Winter Blend Diesel with additive. There is pretty interesting science behind this decision. Regular diesel will start clouding about 3-5 degrees. The additive treats the cloud (ice crystals) so that they don’t plug fuel filters as fast. The additive target is to lower the plugging by about 15 degrees. So you should be okay down to about 10 below zero with just winter blend diesel. Since our temps here in the mountains sometimes reach up to 20 below, we add #1 diesel. The #1 diesel actually affects the development of the cloud in the first place. For each 10% of #1, the CFPP and Plug Point is lowered by about 3 degrees. So when we blend 30% #1, your initial cloud point drops about 15 degrees to about 7-10 degrees below zero, then the additive lowers that by their target of 15 degrees. So the 70/30 blend with additive should keep the CFPP around -22 to -25 degrees. Give yourself some "winter insurance". Drive out a get a tank of our Winter Blend diesel fuel today.

Tuesday July 19th. The Hayden Pass Fire is now 35% contained and some evacuees are able to return to their homes. We are so grateful to the firefighters that are fighting to keep homes and properties safe.

The profits don't leave the community and go back to corporate headquarters.
