SWAIN COUNTY VOTERS******
This is important. Vote YES. Approve the referendums that will allow beer and wine sales outside city limits. This will generate revenue and sales taxes for our county not to mention create opportunities for new businesses OUTSIDE city limits. This change is long overdue. I have been working on this with the commissioners for a while. The Nantahala General Store has been in business for almost forty years without the ability to sell beer and wine to our customers while resorts are allowed to. Resorts OUTSIDE city limits and one mile from us. My general store employs four local families. We need the freedom to compete! The flood hit right before color season which is a crucial time for the Nantahala Gorge. We rely on tourism and guests who appreciate our beautiful area. This is how we buy groceries and pay for soccer cleats. It is so important to not only me but multiple other business owners who will benefit. So many counties around us allow beer and wine sales outside city limits. We are behind in the times. I say, we as Swain county business owners should have the right to sell beer and wine to our customers. The freedom to grow our businesses and support our families and communities.
