Happy National Nutrition Month! Kicking it off with a healthy recipe filled with fiber and plant protein 💪🏽🌱

Ingredients
2 slices of sourdough bread
1 can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1/4 red onion, chopped
2 tbsp cilantro, chopped
2-3 tbsp mayo
1 tsp spicy brown mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
Healthy pinch of garlic powder, cumin, paprika
Optional toppings: grape tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, sliced avocado

Directions
1. Drain, rinse chickpeas and coarsely mash with a fork in a mixing bowl.
2. Add red onion, cilantro, mayo, spicy brown mustard, salt, pepper, garlic powder, cumin, and paprika. Mix.
3. Toast bread and prepare any toppings.
4. Add chickpea mixture to toasted bread. Top off with desired toppings.
5. Enjoy 😊

Nearly half of the population in the United States over the age of 20 has high blood pressure and do not even know it. World Hepatitis Day is coming up in just a few days....

It might be helpful to know:

-Hepatitis refers to an inflammatory condition of the liver.

-It’s commonly caused by a viral infection, but there are other possible causes of hepatitis.

Types of Hepatitis:

-autoimmune hepatitis, Autoimmune hepatitis is a disease that occurs when your body makes antibodies against your liver tissue.

-hepatitis that occurs as a secondary result of medications, drugs, toxins, and alcohol.

If you have any concerns please call your doctor, make an appointment and seek medical advise from a qualified professional if you or someone you love is experiencing symptoms. There are treatments and medications that can help!

We want to take this moment to ask, How are you REALLY?

PTSD awareness day was this weekend. SO what is PTSD?

Many people view PTSD as being something that primarily military or veterans face, IT CAN affect ANYONE at any time

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health disorder that begins after a traumatic event. That event may involve a real or perceived threat of injury or death.

This can include:

a natural disaster like an earthquake or tornado
military combat

physical or sexual assault or abuse
an accident

People with PTSD feel a heightened sense of danger. Their natural fight-or-flight response is altered, causing them to feel stressed or fearful, even when they’re safe.

It is important, if you are suffering with any of these symptoms or are not sure if you are, to talk to your health care provider and seek help.

PTSD can be treated in many ways.

June is National Scleroderma Awareness Month

What is Scleroderma?

Scleroderma or systemic sclerosis refers to a range of disorders that involve hardening and tightening of the skin and connective tissues. The condition mostly affects women than men and commonly occurs in those in the age group of 30-50 years. While there is no known cure for this connective tissue disorder, treatment modalities are available to help ease the symptoms and improve the quality of life to a great extent. -Meghann Drella

We are NOT encouraging you to stuff your face with Eclair...although that sounds amazing....we are taking a moment to recognize that with all the things going on in this world, it is important to take a moment and enjoy the little things.

A little Eclair can go a long way so indulge conscientiously today AND Support a local baker. Corona-virus has hit just about every small business in this country hard. So take today to do something great and support your local businesses while enjoying a sweet treat!
