User fees apply at Corps-managed parks at John H. Kerr Reservoir throughout the year including the winter season. These fees include the vehicle fee and walk-in fee for day use areas and boat ramps. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Annual Passes and America the Beautiful Passes are accepted throughout the year. The Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department will be serving up a Fried Chicken Dinner at the firehouse on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 5 pm to 7 pm. You can Eat In or use our convenient Drive Thru!!! Enjoy Fried Chicken, Green Beans, Boiled Potatoes, Roll, Dessert and Water for just $12 per plate. Preorders are highly encouraged as we frequently sell out. To pre-order, Call 434-689-2661 or 434-689-2631 prior to 10 pm daily. Cutoff for preorders is Tuesday, September 24. UPDATE: Estimated lake elevation is now around 306.5 msl. This estimated lake elevation is subject to change.
SAFETY NOTICE: Kerr Reservoir lake elevation is expected to rise quickly between 9 AUG 2024 and 13 AUG 2024 with a peak lake elevation between 308 - 309 msl. This estimated lake elevation is subject to change. Not only did the immediate area around Kerr Reservoir receive rainfall, but the areas upstream of Kerr Reservoir received significant rainfall. Kerr Reservoir is an authorized flood control reservoir on the Roanoke River which means with this rainfall the lake elevation will rise. Please ensure that all items (i.e. docks, kayaks, etc.) are properly secured. If you choose to recreate this weekend be aware of rising lake elevations and ensure your safety by always wearing a life jacket and letting others know your recreation plan.
