Action by GSSA and Supporters Force Key Changes to Drought and Flood Trailer Bills

As a result of action by GSSA, its supporters and partners, the Governor’s Drought and Flood Trailer Bills received key changes relative to the Administration’s initial proposal to deregulate pumping during flood and near-flood flows. These improvements included strengthening requirements as to where water can be recharged to protect water quality, improved requirements for fish screen designs, a tightened definition of floods, and a narrowed California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) exemption to exclude desalination projects or other projects to create replacement water supplies.

Captains Kim and Jeff Berger report easssy limits of nice lings to 15 pounds and some huge vermilion rockfish. Working the haunts around Point Reyes they caught most of the lings on sand dabs in 200 feet. Kim said they had an incredible group and shared lots of smiles throughout the day.
The Reel Magic has lots of room all August and is now going to open the books to November crabs and rockfish full boat charters. 707-875-BOAT.

The local all depths ling and rockfish season has arrived.
Captains Jeff and Kim took a fun group up to Sunken Reef and Ft Ross for limits of rockfish and two lings to 8 pounds. Captain Jeff reports they had no wind on the beach this morning but they had to push through some steep chop due to a he winds offshore. Great fishing and everyone enjoyed getting out after long spring salmon closure.
They have room for rockfish, lings and even live bait halibut. 707 875-BOAT

The Bluefin tuna action has broken loose out along the continental shelf. Multiple boats saw scores of 1-3 and as many as six landed fish on July 4th with most in the 75-150 plus class.
The Reel Magic is offering full boat charters for up to six anglers weather permitting for as long as the bite remains good for $3000. Currently the best action has been concentrated outside the Farallon Islands with schools seen crashing in many offshore areas. Trips are limited to fair weather days.

We have had some amazing Ling cod and rock cod Fishing . This deep sea fishing out of Bodega bay is off the hook. Book a trip on the Reel Magic Sport Fishing & Charters . 707 875 Boat. (2628). This off shore 50 fathoms and deeper has not been fished in over 20 years. The quality of fish and variety are amazing. After July 16 we will open to all depths giving us a better opportunity to go out or in closer depending on weather. So book a trip and let's go getem.

It was a fun fishful day on board the Reel Magic on Friday June 23. Captain Jeff and his deckhand Vince took six clients offshore for an eventful day. Limits of lings to 18 pounds full limits of large rockfish and 10 petrale sole at Rittenberg.
The Reel Magic will be running weather permitting daily.

This Alaskan Brown Bear was drowning out in the Bay until a passerby lassoed it and towed it to safety! They had their hands full trying to keep it from climbing in the boat once "rescued"!

I guess after hibernation he was hungry and didn't fancy waiting for the salmon to come to him so he went out looking for them in the sea!

More info for those commenting - this was in the sea well off the coast of Kodiak in 2017 and an experienced outdoorsman watched this bear struggling and actually go under a few times before deciding it was necessary to be intervene.....Another Alaska Adventure!

Golden State Salmon Association continues to investigate promising alternative hatchery fish release sites where CDFW might release fish closer to the Golden Gate – leading to increased survival when compared to traditional release sites in Vallejo. One such site is the Romberg Estuary and Ocean Science Center in Tiburon where, for the first time in almost 8 years, CDFW released a approximately one million fall-run Chinook Salmon a few days ago.

Today (May 26), the CDFW will release approximately 673,007 brood year 2022 fall-run Chinook Salmon from the Feather River Fish Hatchery into the San Francisco Bay at this location.
