Holiday drink ideas!
Gingerbread White Russian
Ingredients:
For the Gingerbread Simple Syrup:
1 cup water
1 cup fresh ginger, peeled and cubed
2/3 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup molasses
1 teaspoon orange zest
2 cinnamon sticks
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
For the Cocktail:
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 ounces vodka
2 ounces Tia Maria or coffee liqueur
1-2 ounces gingerbread syrup (to taste)
2 ounces heavy cream
1 gingerbread cookie (optional, for garnish)
Directions:
Prepare the Gingerbread Syrup:
In a saucepan, combine water, ginger, brown sugar, molasses, orange zest, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. Stir and bring to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes to infuse. Strain to remove solids and let the syrup cool. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Rim the Glass:
Combine ground cinnamon and granulated sugar on a shallow plate. Use an orange wedge to moisten the rim of the glass, then dip into the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Assemble the Cocktail:
Fill the rimmed glass with ice. Add vodka, Tia Maria, gingerbread syrup, and heavy cream in that order. Stir gently to combine.
Garnish:
Add a gingerbread cookie to the rim or as a side garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy!
