Local legend Liv Ross hosts a tour of women winemakers across California! She’ll be pouring wines from heralded producers Emme, Inconnu, and Kareen—a diverse selection of varietals and styles from a light red, to a great take on the famous Cheval Blanc blend (Cab Franc, Merlot), to a sparkling Chenin that drinks like classic Loire sparkling Vouvray. Liv will also present two of her own Virgo Magic wines, offering an opportunity to hear her insights and the inspirations behind her creations.

L’Arco (Valpolicella)
Solano Cellars
Thursday, January 16th
5-8pm
Flight of 5 wines for $25 ($15 club)
At only 47 years old, Luca Fedrigo has been one of the most masterful producers in Valpolicella for almost three decades under the L’Arco label. How is it possible for a winemaker to have that wealth of experience before hitting the half-century mark?

First, you fall madly in love with the granddaughter of the most iconic producer in Valpolicella, Giuseppe Quintarelli, so much so that you abandon your burgeoning career as a Ducati driver, follow her to her family’s farm, and begin to adopt their more agrarian lifestyle. Second, when Quintarelli offers you an apprenticeship, you accept, eventually spending a decade in his cellar and vineyards learning the traditional winemaking techniques and indigenous varieties of the region. And third, you purchase a small plot of land a short walk from the Quintarelli property, in the Negrar zone of Valpolicella, a few years into your stint as assistant winemaker, and a few years later, release your inaugural vintage.

Fedrigo’s time under Quintarelli’s tutelage no doubt served him well: L’Arco’s Amarone is dark, brooding, and lushly textured, with an almost ethereal elegance quite rarely, if ever, seen in its peers; the Ripasso is likewise elegant, all concentrated fruit with savory etchings; their Rosso di Veronese offers a youthful expression of the region’s chief varieties, lithe and lively; and their Rubeo is a captivating blend of those native varieties and techniques with Cabernet Franc.

On Thursday, we’ll taste them all (+ the perfectly balanced sweetness of their Passito Bianco) with our friend Nick Dazzi of Alluvial Wine. A perfect lineup to warm up on a chilly evening!

All About Georgia

Thursday, January 16th
5-730pm
$15 ($5 Club)
On Thursday, we’re traveling back to our roots with a special tour of Georgia’s 8,000-year-old winemaking tradition. We’ll be opening unique, qvevri-fermented wines alongside modern takes on ancient techniques. (“Qvevri” refers to the country’s famous earthenware vessels.) Whether you like wines on the cleaner side or are looking for some funk, this tasting will have a bit of everything—peppery reds, crisp mineral whites, and the amber (orange) wines for which Georgia is still world-famous. Six wines total for only $15. This is a great way to explore what Georgian wines are all about, and to learn about the origins of our humble craft.

Join us for an exploration of Tuscany’s diverse and dynamic wine landscape. From the delicate, floral elegance of Fiorentini to the approachable charm of “baby” Super Tuscans, we’ll showcase the region’s incredible range. Discover the depth of a Chianti Classico, the vibrant allure of a Rosso di Montalcino, and the brighter side of Tuscany with a crisp Trebbiano and Vermentino blend. Brunello is great, but this tasting will show you that there’s so much more to love in Tuscany beyond Brunello.

No-Brainer Holiday Tasting

College Ave.
Thursday, December 19th
5-730pm
Tix in bio

This tasting is all about helping you discover versatile, crowd-pleasing wines that will shine on your holiday table. These are the ultimate no-brainer bottles—effortless, delicious, and ready to impress. We’ll kick things off with a sparkling Jacquère from Savoie, as fresh and vibrant as an Alpine stream. Next, we pour our most-popular Chenin Blanc of the year, a true crowd favorite. For something a little adventurous, we’ve got a stunning Sicilian Orange wine that’s sure to impress your friends & family. Then, it’s on to a classic, elegant Burgundy from the Côte de Nuits. To finish, we’re bringing out two quintessential California treasures: a bold and juicy Dry Creek Zinfandel and a powerhouse Napa Valley Cab.

Cheers to discovering new favorites, savoring every sip, and making this holiday season your most delicious yet!

Flight of 6 wines for $25 ($15 club)

Our last importer spotlight of the year is a good’un, and features a lineup that might just be the most electrifying one we’ve poured in recent memory: 6 Spanish and Portuguese winemakers from importer Ted Vance , who are without a doubt producing some of the most exciting wine from anywhere in the world.

From Spain: salty, sea sprayed Albariño from the coast; elegant field blends from Galicia, from vineyards that trace the border of Portugal; lithe, high elevation Treixadura that expresses the dense mineral character of the Miño River Valley. And from across the border, an equally diverse mix: fresh and aromatic co-ferments of red and white grapes, made by a Paris-born daughter of Portuguese immigrants who returned to her familial, countryside village in the northeast to rebuild the old vineyards there; dark-fruited, balanced Douro from a young, 4th generation winegrower at the helm of his family’s high elevation estate (and head enologist/wine director of Dirk Niepoort’s still Douro program!); and a leading contender for the best white wine we’ve tasted all year, a textured, compelling blend of native varieties from 120+ year-old vines from a legendary producer on a unique granite massif on the side of Serra de São Mamade in Alentejo.
