Starting after New Year's Day, we'll be running odd and obscure holiday specials at least monthly. Depending on popularity, we will make them a permanent store feature.

Finally got in some customer requests!!

Many of the items you all have been asking for have been "temporarily out of stock" from our supplier for weeks or months. Friday we finally got some of them in!

Lorna Doone shortbread cookies just in time for having with a relaxing cup of hot chocolate during stormy weather, Ham and Cheese Hot Pockets, and Nutter Butter Bites are all in.

Product Reviews : Popcorn

Last week, we got in two new varieties of prepopped, flavored popcorn, and we have customer and staff reviews of both!

First up, is Cretors Cheese and Caramel Mix.

Remember the tins of three kinds of popcorn ( cheese, caramel, and plain)? Well, if you leave out the plain, mix the cheese and caramel together, and make it taste fresh instead of weeks old stale, this is what you get. All of our customer reviews have been very favorable, and both Don and Alex rate it among the best bagged popcorn they've tried. Currently Don's favorite.

Next is Popcorn Indiana Black & White Fudge Drizzle:

If you like sweet, chocolate, and popcorn this may be your new favorite. Alex likes is slightly better than Don's favorite because it just sweet enough to taste "desserty" without overwhelming the salty popcorn and chocolate taste. Like the plain Indiana popcorn, it isn't stale tasting like some of the other brands we no longer stock.

Here's a couple of favorites that are back. One is the Late July Organic Sea Salt potato chips. Don has been trying to get these in since we ran out two months ago, and finally snagged a case.

The other is another favorite that hasn't been available for some time. Twix Salted Caramels was a pleasant surprise that came in this week!

This isn't really new: there aren't any new flavors, but Fritos has little (tiny) bags of chips priced 2/$1.00. We have no idea how long they will last or whether it is a short promo or we'll be getting them long term, but it is a good deal while it lasts.

Four new protein bars! We have new flavors from Quest, Kind, and a new Clif Bar. Which one to try first?

It must be close to Christmas, because it is popcorn season :) We got two new kinds of pre-popped corn in; Popcorn Indiana Black and White Fudge Drizzle and Cretors Cheese and Caramel mix.

We haven't tried the Fudge Drizzle yet, but customer reviews of the Cretors have been very favorable. Try both - I intend to!

LOTS of new items this week!

Too many to list in one post, plus some favorites we haven't been able to get for some time came in this week as well. To start off with, Caramello bars are back, as well as Sather's Blue Sharks. We've also got some sugar wafers in as well.

Here's a pic of our New Items rack. Some of you have asked what happens to the items that get rotated off the display.

Well, the items that are selling well are moved to a permanent place in the section they belong. Chips and pretzels across from the beer, pastry over by the coffee, etc.

Items that don't sell well either go in the discount bin or get shifted down to the bottom rack.

So, take a look whenever you stop in; the display changes weekly, and if you like the items on the bottom, let us know. Otherwise, they will probably not be reordered.

But first - we FINALLY got some propane cylinders! It's been so long, you probably don't remember where to find them, so I'll remind you that they are next to the pet food section. :)

A neighborhood fixture since the 1930s, some of our long-time customers have been shopping here for over 50 years! Originally O’Neil’s Market, The Axton-Northwest Market (known by our regulars as either ANW or “The Market”) Darrell Bornstein and his staff have worked hard to maintain the feel and attitude of a neighborhood general store than a convenience store. Unlike many c-stores, we are more than happy to visit with our customers, offer (and listen to) suggestions for new products to try, and generally help out when we can. Most of the staff have been here for over ten years, and at least three of us for twenty years or more!

Conveniently located across the street from a WTA bus stop, and at a crossing of two major county roads, we’re the ideal place to stop for a quick fill-up, snack, and a beverage on your way to wherever you’re headed.
