Did you know Mahnomen County was once part of Norman County? In December 1906, the eastern half of Norman County became Mahnomen County. Map below is from somewhere between 1881-1885. Red Lake County was established in 1886 (not on map). Also, Norman County was established in 1881 breaking away from the larger Polk County.

The Maple Lake Improvement District has been discussing possibly adding a biking/walking trail around the lake. They have met with the county and created a committee of property owners.

There are funds available through the state for this and the board just needs a plan and funding request created.
