We are two families who definitely “get it”.

Meet the Klenks

Founder, Mandee Klenk (OTR), struggled with the so-called "mom guilt" as a pediatric home health occupational therapist following the birth of her first daughter. After several moves across the country, she became an expert on packing and managing a home with a frequent traveling spouse. Regardless of how many moves she had under her belt, Mandee struggled with finding a supportive community of fellow parents. Soon after Mandee and her husband, Adam, relocated to Austin, they knew they wanted to stay long-term and something had to change. Out of pure necessity, the concept of Poppy began to bloom. When Mandee isn’t at Poppy, she enjoys the feeling of nailing a run, connecting with friends, attempting to stay on top of fashion trends, and being on #teamgirlmoms.

Katie Meissner (M.Ed) never envisioned staying at home. Her experience in curriculum development and training led her down many exciting paths across several industries. However, after returning to work following the birth of her first son, she knew something wasn’t right. After many tearful mornings, intimidating corporate pumping rooms, and heavy heart-to-hearts, she ultimately put her career “on hold” to focus on her growing family. Katie hopes that Poppy provides not just the support she had trouble finding, but an avenue back into the workforce for new parents who aren’t quite ready to take the leap into full-time childcare or full-time on-site employment. Aside from growing Poppy, Katie enjoys any opportunity to use her label maker, inventing new toddler-friendly baking recipes, indulging in murder mystery shows and being on #teamboymoms.

We understand the desire to be present for every child milestone while also wanting a successful career. Our goal is to create a community where parents and children can coexist and develop personally and professionally. While parents utilize the productive coworking space to finish a proposal, meet with a client, or follow their dreams, children spend their time at Poppy immersed in a stimulating, nurturing and experiential learning-based program. And it all happens just a few feet away from each other.

We firmly believe that Poppy empowers professionals to have both a family and a meaningful career. Spoken from experience, it takes a village, and we hope to be yours.
