Happy Belated Birthday to the Blue Ridge Parkway! Sunday, September 11, marked the 87th anniversary of America's most visited national park site. This 469-mile roadway connects Shenandoah National Park in Virginia with Great Smoky Mountains National Park located on the North Carolina-Tennessee border. Some of its best scenery is featured in my new book "Blue Ridge Parkway, A Magnificent Journey" available at all parkway visitor centers and at jscottgraham.com.

Now in its eighth year, the month-long fundraising and public engagement campaign kicked off Fri., July 1. For eight nights this month, a different local brewery will host the all-volunteer advocacy nonprofit organization as it works to educate folks about current + future local greenways and their benefits."

Today, we're looking at eight reasons to celebrate this month — Connect Buncombe's eight Brewing for Greenways events.

Travel back in time to the 1900s, when Asheville's River Arts District was a flourishing industrial district instead of an art haven.
