We're throwing this one out here early so you can get prepared (meaning giving you time to get your merch from your favorite distillery).

We're declaring Saturday, December 14 as National Distillery Day. We are encouraging our customers to show their favorite distillery pride by wearing their merchandise that day. If you come into the ABV Barrel Shop that day wearing clothes from a distillery (shirt, hat, jacket, etc.) we'll give you 20% off of one bottle of that distillery's products (it is limited to one bottle and one discount per person... December 14 only).

We'll be posting photos on December 14 from the ABV Barrel Shop of our customers on our page and will encourage you to post your distillery merch photos that day on our page as well as we show some love for all of these great small (and in some cases large) businesses that make up the bourbon industry. We are also encouraging other businesses to join the fun and even distilleries themselves to get in on the fun of National Distillery Day be creating promotions of their own.

If you read this and decide to join us with a promotion of your business, we'll catalog them and post about them together as a guide to deals on National Distillery Day.

Join us as we celebrate all things Demetrius Cain on the day he becomes the first inductee into the ABV Barrel Shop's new Bourbon Industry Hall of Fame!!!!

A new tradition is being started in 2025... a spring festival in which a member of the bourbon industry is inducted into the ABV Barrel Shop's Bourbon Industry Hall of Fame. The event will take place in our Speakeasy next door to the Shop. Our inductee for our inaugural festival is Demetrius Cain. Due to space limitations, we have four sessions where we offer 30 tickets in each session where you can enjoy a full festival experience with a multitude of educational exhibits, artifacts on display from Demetrius Cain never seen before and a full market where you can buy food items from Demetrius' farm, his products, unique barrel picks just for the festival, Nobleton's merchandise and older Nobleton's barrel picks from the ABV Barrel Shop. Attendees get a gift bag loaded with an official festival t-shirt*, a wee Glencairn featuring the festival logo and more.

*Please Note: The t-shirts are unisex t's with sizes ranging from Small - 4XL. Please email your size to: [email protected]. If you do not do that, we will make every attempt to contact you using the email you provide to get your size. If you don't respond to these requests, you will receive a size XL t-shirt.

Participants will also get to participate in the world's largest barrel pick (120 people voting), a chance to buy a barrel pick selected just for the festival, buy lunch as the Kanoa's Hawaiian Grill food truck and interact with the man himself as he signs bottles and chats with attendees.

The first session (10:00 AM - 11:30 AM) is a premium event and costs an extra $25 as the last 10-minutes of that session are dedicated to the ceremony in which Demetrius Cain is inducted into the ABV Barrel Shop's Hall of Fame. These attendees will see Demetrius get inducted, get the first look at the perpectual plaque in the ABV Barrel Shop's Speakeasy, Demetrius Hall of Fame induction trophy and receive a limited edition pin with the festival logo and have the most allocated bottles available to them for purchase.

The other three sessions (11:45 - 1:15, 1:30 - 3:00 & 3:15 - 4:45) will feature the final 10-mintues of the session dedicated to Steve Akley chatting with Demetrius Cain about his induction into the ABV Barrel Shop's Bourbon Industry Hall of Fame.

Today is the day!

It's the annual unveiling of our holiday gift baskets at the ABV Barrel Shop. Come by today (Sunday, November 17), from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM, to get the first look at them as well as the first chance to buy your favorite(s).

Darren McRoy did an amazing job of curating them, and Stephanie McNew & Kathy Kuhl really hit it out of the park in assembling some really fun baskets featuring some of best barrel picks going as far back as 2022!

Whether you are looking for the perfect gift for a bourbon fan in your life, or you just want to shop for yourself, the ABV Barrel Shop gift baskets are a tradition like no other in the St. Louis area!

We have had a busy day here at the ABV Barrel Shop already. Our Bare Knuckle Bourbon pick has arrived. It is a surprisingly easy drinker for a 132 proof whiskey. It goes for $80 a bottle.

We also got in two offerings from Red Line (not barrel picks). Their popular honey barrel finish and their Cigar Series. These are both available for $110 each.

Finally, we got two new Fee Brother’s Bitters… a mint and a cranberry. These should make some fantastic holiday cocktails. They are available for $12 each.

We've got our latest barrel pick in. It's Farm & Estate, a collaboration of Adam Stumpf of Old Monroe & Rich Anders of Washington Distilling. This straight bourbon whiskey comes in with a mash bill of 85% corn (Jimmy Red heirloom corn), 12.5% Rye and 2.5% malted barley. It comes in at 107 proof and retails for $60 a bottle.

The taste on this one is sweet and spicy with a caramel finish.

Ever since we got our exclusive Water Tower brand in featuring the blue water tower, everyone has been asking when we would get one in featuring the classic "green water tower." Well, today's the day. We have a nice rye whiskey featuring the G.O.A.T. (greatest of all towers) the classic green water tower that sat presiding over our hometown of Arnold for many years.

Come by and give these a try and pick up either one for just $50 each.

We've got a shop takeover at the ABV Barrel Shop on Saturday... Beka Neeley is going to be running the store with Steve and Darren off. It should be a fun day!

Time: 10:30ish - 8:00 PM (not sure exactly when Beka will be ready to go... she said there is no way she's getting in at 9:00 AM when we open, so let's guess 10:30 (sorry, not a whole lot of negotiating strength here, we'll accept her terms and the time she shows up).

Will She Yell at People, Like on the Podcasts: Yes, possibly.

How Much Are Tickets: There is no charge to attend on Saturday. .We're just open for business and instead of Darren and Steve, it's Beka and Amy working.

Is She Only Pouring Neeley Products: Nope. We're open for business like we normally are, she'll just be the lead for your tastings that day.

What Else is Happening That Day: Beka, is just coming off of a cocktail show where she curated some cocktails with Neeley products. She'll be talking about those and teaching you how to make them if you are interested.

Will She Sign Bottles: Yes, absolutely.

The ABV Barrel Shop is pleased to announce a very special offering from Nobleton's Distilling House. It's called Cherry Bomb and it comes from owner Demetrius Cain's personal lot of barrels. He normally doesn't sell these, but we talked him into selling us one of his special barrels. This is not a flavored whiskey, but simply has strong cherry notes. All attendees get a bottle (this is included in your ticket price). Demetrius Cain will be on-hand to lead through the tasting of this barrel.

Our latest barrel pick at the ABV Barrel Shop is in! It’s a straight bourbon finished in a peach brandy cask from Red Line. This one is a standout. If you love peaches this one is for you!

We are pleased to add this plaque to the wall at the ABV Barrel Shop. Having your Executive Bourbon Steward certification from the Stave & Thief Society is an accomplishment of great distinction for bourbon aficionados. It provides such a well rounded overview of the industry we require all employees here to receive this honor.

We couldn’t be happier to promote our customers and employees that have made this sort of commitment to bourbon.

Richard Paul is finally able to join us for the official release party of the ABV Barrel Shop's police pick celebrating all police officers with Steve's Dad, Major Lawrence Akley of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department being featured on the bottle.
Steve, along with his Mom will share a few stories about Major Akley and Richard Paul will lead a whiskey tasting of this pick and others from Art of the Spirits portfolio. Richard Paul is is a dynamic presenter and we anticipate an amazing evening of great whiskey, fun stories and a spirited presentation from Richard!
