Thank you for contacting me regarding S. 772, the Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act of 2013. I appreciate knowing your thoughts and concerns on this important issue.
As you may know, Senator Bill Nelson (FL) introduced S. 772, the Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act, which would amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to explicitly exclude traditional large and premium ci**rs from regulation and from to***co product user fees assessed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This bill was referred to the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP).
Similar legislation has also been introduced in the United States House of Representatives as H.R. 792, the Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act of 2013, by Representative Bill Posey (FL-8). H.R. 792 was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
Please rest assured that I will keep your comments in mind should this legislation come before the full Senate for consideration.
