We love the backstory at DAOU Vineyards. Two brothers, family moved from Lebanon to France in the early 70s, started out in engineering and Computer Science, made a fortune and founded the winery in 2007. Many twists and turns along the way, but ending in a truly fantastic place. Making amazing wines! One of our favorite stops on our recent tour of winemakers in Paso Robles - and what a gorgeous view to enjoy with the wine.

We arrived at Adelaida at 11:30 a.m. on a Monday morning and were immediately treated to wonderful hospitality. Our tasting included some of their finest selections including this beautiful HMR Estate Vineyard 2019 Pinot Noir. The HMR vineyard, planted in 1964, is the oldest Pinot Noir vineyard on California's Central Coast!

This was by far one of our favorite tastings, not only because the wine itself is sublime but our host, Ty, was just as interested in geeking out about wine as we were. If you haven't experienced L'Aventure yet, you are definitely missing out. Not to be a point hound, but this trio scores 100, 100 and 98 points!

Theresa and I visited some of our longtime favorites when we were in Paso Robles last week. Herman Story was the first place we stopped after our 3 hour drive south - and boy, was it worth it! On a 92+ degree day, we were invited into the back room which was at a cool 56 degrees to taste the current line-up. The wines of Russell P. From, grandson of Herman Story, are totally worth seeking out. We're sipping on 2018 Nuts & Bolts Syrah tonight - one from the cellar. Worth seeking out!
