Looking for something to warm you up with the dreary weather, or maybe a great dinner red? Give this lovely Tannat a go!
Viñedo de los Vientos has been a family-owned winery since the first relatives immigrated from Piedmont in 1920. The vineyards are located close to the Atlantic Ocean, and enjoy one of the coolest climates in Uruguay as a result. The Tannat is hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel, and aged in both stainless and new French oak. This dry red wine is a great pairing with Uruguay’s treasured grilled beef.

Are you an fan? We absolutely love them and their stellar wines they create, which is why we wanted to showcase these 3 fantastic bottles!

The Trousseau is from the North Coast of California. (80% Luschinger Vineyard, 20% Las Cimas Vineyard) The vines come from higher altitude cool climate vineyards and it show in this delicate, but deeply profound Trousseau.  While Trousseau is a very light pale red wine, it does not lack complexity. It has tantalizing notes of citrus and citrus peel as well as earthy cherry strawberry.

The 2022 Syrah is bold, rich and explosive. As is so often the case, the Syrah is flat-out gorgeous. In this vintage, the Arnot-Roberts Syrah used the broader California appellation. All the elements are so well balanced. Juicy dark cherry, plum, sage, menthol, new leather and lavender build into the dense, textured finish.

The 2022 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict comes from the original own-rooted vines planted in 1971, and the wine was matured for 10 months in used French oak. The nose features tones of yellow peach, honey and spice, and as it opens, it reveals pretty citrus blossom perfume. The medium-bodied palate is concentrated yet understated in terms of ripeness. It has an expansive, silky texture, energetic acidity and a long, flinty finish.

Bubbles anyone? Made from 100% Chardonnay, this wine truly competes with the best sparkling wines of the world, but for a fraction of the price! 20% of the base wine was fermented in used 500L French oak barrels, adding texture and complexity while preserving purity, as malolactic fermentation was intentionally avoided to maintain vibrant acidity. Produced using the méthode champenoise, the wine spent 40 months on the lees, followed by an elevage of 50 months. The result is an elegant sparkling wine with an expressive bouquet of citrus zest, golden apple, and fresh-baked brioche. On the palate, a creamy mousse carries flavors of lemon curd, white peach with a long, mineral-driven finish, and it is absolutely phenomenal!

😍 We are very excited to finally have gracing our shelves!
This is quite a unique red blend from a spread of vineyards and varieties dotted around California - 38% Valdiguie, 33% Mourvedre, 17% Grenache, 12% other (Cab Franc, Syrah, Carignan, Petite Verdot).Glou d’ Etat is a light red wine made in a fun and irreverent style, inspired by many of their favorite European wines.
The wine is made with carbonic maceration, before being foot-crushed and left to complete fermentation with whole clusters, creating a lighter drinking style with fresh aromatics and a lower tannin profile. Perfect with a chill! Cheers 🥂

Looking to put some pep in your step? Check out Brand’s Electric Acid Test, it’s always a fun and surprising bottle to pop open!

The forgotten border region of the northern Pfalz is riddled with limestone soils making it perfect for, among other things, certain varieties that do well in Burgundy, like, well, Chardonnay.

Yet here the temperatures are a bit cooler, the nights a bit brisker, and so the Chardonnay that the young brothers Brand farm comes to us with a tad more acidity, a few thousand more volts of electricity than most of the more luxurious examples from Burgundy and the New World. This is no-nonsense, organically farmed, young-vine Chardonnay that is ripe, yet sizzles with energy and acidity. And just to make sure that the wine glows in the dark, the brothers add a small bit of Riesling to the cuvée (usually 10%) which turbo-charges everything, heightening and sharpening the aromatics, making the wine perfumed and even more explosive.

And now for something unique and delicious that is here and waiting for you. A Viognier from Beaujolais from Domaine de Leyre-Loup!
Although 98% of wine production in Beaujolais is red (made from Gamay Noir), the remaining 2% is white or rosé wine.  In order to be stamped with the French AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) of Beaujolais or Morgon, a white wine must be made from either of the two permitted varietals, Chardonnay or Aligoté.  However, the Lansons believe that the poor, granitic soil located on the specific plot, Bellevue, is perfectly suited for growing Viognier!  As a lover of Viognier, I can assure you they are on to something!
Technically, this wine cannot be called “Beaujolais Blanc” because it is not made from one of the permitted white varietals, as mentioned above, therefore the Lansons have aptly named this wine Les Granits de Bellevue.  The 2022 vintage is their fourth release, however they produce and export a very limited number of cases.  As they are currently the only ones who have planted Viognier in Morgon, this wine truly is a rare find!
