What a ride the last few months have been! They say that experience is something you don't get until just after you need it and wow is that true. We learned A LOT about the process of designing, developing, and constructing a building, we moved our entire store with thousands of bottles of inventory in just 2 days, we laughed and cried, lost sleep, made friends, and it all went into the soup. We poured so much of ourselves into this new store and every day it feels a little bit more like home, even as we continue to evolve. We worked with so many people in the process of the last year and want to express our gratitude to everyone who helped bring this store to life. First, we have to thank our team! We're so grateful and so proud of what we were able to accomplish together. If you haven’t yet, meet Chloë! She’s probably the first face you’ll see when entering our new store, which is fine by us because she is a ray of sunshine. You’ll find Chloë behind the Market Counter assisting customers with their orders, keeping our Grab & Go Case stocked, recommending cheeses, pointing out retail products, and helping out in ANY way she can. She is unique, reliable, helpful, sweet as pie, easy-going, and wise beyond her years. Chloë has an understated confidence and a strong sense of self that makes her such a lovely person to work with and be around. When not at White Horse, Chloë enjoys spending time with her large close-knit family, is into gaming, and is usually down for anything her friends toss at her - from sock hops, to roller skating, to concerts, to nights out in AC. Chloë is a self proclaimed “meat and potatoes” kind of gal when it comes to dinner, but she loves to indulge in a sweeter breakfast, like stuffed French Toast or a treat from @beachbunsbakerynj when the occasion allows it. Chloë keeps herself busy and spends a lot of time spoiling her new cat, but in her spare time has been learning sign language. Meet PJ, our lead line cook and an integral member of the kitchen team. He can make a killer sandwich AND a killer playlist. PJ describes himself as a human labrador retriever, and well, YES! PJ is easy going and personable, has an uplifting energy, and an infectious laugh. When he is not at work, he likes to surf, skate, and go to the beach. You can also find him in the mosh pit of a concert or on the dance floor with friends. In a previous professional life he was a teacher, and has a secret craftiness that not everyone gets to see. He enjoys a good beer & a good meal, usually with some heat involved. Who would play him in a movie? Seth Rogen, 1000 percent! Meet Amor! Amor joined the team recently as our Sous Chef. She can be found in the kitchen, cooking up about ten different things at once, all with ease and grace. She moves a mile a minute, and is incredibly efficient. She says that Michelle Rodriquez would play her in a movie, and that def tracks. She’s got a tough, go-getter kind of attitude, with just the right balance of sweetness and sassiness. Amor grew up in the kitchen cooking with her parents, and her favorite meal is her Mom’s flautas. Pair those babies with a Spicy Margarita and she’s in her element! Amor’s pet peeve is being tailgated, and if she had a superpower it would be to always be hydrated (what an excellent idea!). Meet Myra, our new Market Manager! Myra has been an integral member of our kitchen team for quite some time and we are thrilled to have her move into this management position. Myra is a natural born leader. She’s cool, confident, resilient, empathetic, and can get ish DONE. If you haven’t met her yet, you’ll definitely be seeing her around the Market making sure things run smoothly. When Myra is not at work she is probably in another country (okayyy we might be exaggerating a touch, but she is VERY well traveled), at a concert, training for an upcoming half marathon, or enjoying time with family & friends. Sounds about right for someone who believes that life is too short so better to do what makes you happy, don’t you think? Growing up Myra wanted to be a dancer, and although we haven’t witnessed her moves personally, we have heard her sing along to a playlist beautifully, and know she can play multiple instruments, so don’t doubt she would also kill it on the dance floor. Little known fact about Myra? She donated a kidney to a complete stranger. Talk about leading by example!
