B H A I R A V 🔱 J A Y A N T I

In Trinidad and Tobago, for the year 2024,
Sri Kāl Bhairav Jayanti
Starts on Friday 22nd November at 8:37 am
And Ends on Saturday 23rd November at 10:26 am

The festival is dedicated to Lord Kāl Bhairav, the fearsome form of Lord Shiva, who punished Lord Brahma for speaking untruth.

He is the protector of all Shiva Temples, all Devi temples and especially the 51 Shakti Peethas.

In Puja He is invited first to the altar of worship before any other devta, espec in the the worship of the Divine Mother Goddess.

In every auspicious undertaking he is venerated and propitiated as one of the Three Masters of land, wealth and assets, more commonly known as Dee Puja.
In that aspect, Lord Kāl Bhairav is the third and highest (senior) of the Three Masters, the other two being Sangani Dee Baba, and Sri Munesh Prem.

He is the ultimate punisher, as he is the controller of Time and all that time itself affects.
Although ferocious is nature and appearance, he is benevolent and calm to His devotees, revealing to them His loving, protective and caring form, who will ensure their constant safety and prosperity.

His worship begins with devotees having an early morning bath and performing simple Puja to Lord Shiva, Devi Durga and one’s ancestors.

Strict fast is observed all day. Primarily one should refrain from salt and any type of cooked food.

In the evening, his Puja is performed with all types of flowers, bael leaves, sandalwood paste, perfumed oils, fruits, sweets and vegetables.
His Murti is given Panch Amrit Abhishek (five nectar bath).

Going into the night, the Kathā of his appearance is read, his hymns are sung and his Arti is performed at Midnight with the accompaniment of bells, gongs, conch shells, and drums.

Garlands of bael leaves, madar flowers and limes are offered.

His vehicle is the dog, therefore on this day, dogs are bathed, given milk, food and treats.

The mantra for continuous repetition during his Puja is:

ऊँ ह्रीं बटुकाय आपदुद्धारणाय कुरु कुरु बटुकाय ह्रीं ऊँ स्वाहा।।

Om Hreem Batukāya Āpadūdh-darnāya Kuru Kuru Batukāya Hreem Om Swaha ||

एक दिन मन इंद्र को मारयो, नख ऊपर गोवर्धन धरयो
नाम पदायो गिरिधारी, जया माधव मदन मुरारि

eka-dina māna indra ko māryo, nakha ūpara govardhana dhāryo
nāma paḍāyo giridhārī, jaya mādhava madana murārī

“One day, Dev Indra tried to destroy you and the people of the village with torrential downpours.

With the little finger of one hand You lifted the Goverdhan hill for 7 days and 7 nights, thus sheltering the people and animals, and saving them from death.

Henceforth your name has been ‘Goverdhan Giridhāri’, the one who blessed the mountain.

Om Namo Bhagavate Vāsudevāya

Happy Goverdhan Puja

Day 3:
The Amāvāsyā or New Moon is the 15th and final day of the dark fortnight.

Narak Chaturdashi is also marked as Bhoot Chaturdashi. Common belief states on the eve of the darkest night,(amawasya/divali), the souls of the deceased come down to earth to visit their dear ones. It is also believed that the 14 forefathers of a family visit their living relatives, and so 14 deeyas are placed all around the house to guide them homewards and especially to chase away the evil ones. Every dark corner and nook are illuminated with light.

Please see below for your Narak Chaturdashi Guide.

THE SECRET MIDNIGHT PUJA TO SRI MAHALAKSHMI DEVI FOR UNLIMITED WEALTH.

To be done on Divali night, Thursday 31st October
between 11:25 pm and 12:14 am

• Obtain a large brass or silver Thāli (thariya).
• Pour sandalwood or jasmine oil to completely cover the entire inner surface of the thāli.
• Sprinkle k*m k*m or Sindoor powder on the oiled surface of the thāli.
• Place 5 silver coins in the thāli. One in the center, and the other 4 in the 4 cardinal directions.
• Place a deya on top of each coin.
• Fill your deya with ghee or coconut oil. Place a wick in each.
• Pour dhān, (unhusked rice) or dry white or brown rice in the thāli in the space between the deyas.

Light the 5 deyas.
Envision, believe and know that each lit deya now represents the Goddess Maha Lakshmi.

Worship the 5 lit deyas.
• Offer drops of water, Panch Amrit, Chandan, essence, Doob grass, neem leaves, bail leaves, hardi, Sindoor, a fruit or sweet, soopari, clove, coin, a flower, incense and arti with camphor in a deya.

• During this entire Puja, please Chant or play the Maha Lakshmi Ashtakam, and the Sri Suktam again and again until the Puja is complete.

• Perform havan 108 times with ghee or googool chanting the Lakshmi Devi Gayatri.

• Leave everything untouched overnight.
• In the morning after, carefully move the 5 deyas, and pick up the 5 coins that were under the deyas.
• Rinse them with milk, then water, and place them in a small pouch or bag or sac.
• Keep in your room in a safe place. Or keep with you in your purse, wallet or bag.
• Everything else in the thāli is put into the ocean, river, stream, pond or lake.

• The secret:
Every time you receive money (cash or cheque) always place it where these coins are, and thank Goddess Maha Lakshmi for sending wealth your way.
Leave it for a day at minimum, and then you may spend, invest or deposit it accordingly.

Consider all money you receive as Hers and to be coming from Her.
Understand that we are only in temporary receivership of wealth that is permanently Hers.
